Important Dates

For Postgraduate Programmes

Important Note:
  1. Please read carefully and observe the Academic Regulations governing your registered programme of study.
  2. Please refer to Academic Calendar for more details about student holidays.
  3. Chinese mainland students are required to be in residence in Macao during their study period. For more details, please refer to the relevant regulations of the Ministry of Education of China.
  4. Important or emergent information will be delivered via SMS. Please keep your mobile phone number up-to-date on SIWeb.
Schedule Item Remarks
1 week prior to first day of academic year Tuition payment
  • Master's students (2nd installment): late August.
  • PhD students (2nd & 3rd installments):
    - For September intake: late August
    - For January intake: late December
  • A student who has outstanding fees, whether in part or in full, for three weeks shall be considered to have withdrawn from studies.
1 week prior to first day of class List of enrolled modules published on SIWeb Students are responsible for ensuring this list is correct and informing respective academic units for changes where necessary.
January & May Release of module assessment results
  • The results will be released on SIWeb and the exact release dates to be notified by your academic unit.
  • Please submit your retake application (if necessary) within the period prescribed by your academic unit at the unit office.
  • Students whose retake application is approved are to settle the designated administrative fee within the prescribed period as stated on the approval letter.
12-24 calendar months from date of registration Confirmation of PhD candidature A PhD student is required to progress to confirmed candidature within 12 to 24 calendar months counted from the date of registration. (Please refer to the Article 11 of the Academic Regulations Governing Doctoral Degree Programmes).
Two months ahead of date of commencement of the resuming semester Submission of application for resumption of study
  • Applicable to master's students only.
  • The application is to be submitted to your academic unit two months ahead of date of commencement of the resuming semester.
  • A request for study period extension is required in cases of expiry of normal period of study.
Before end of period of study Submission of request for study period extension (if necessary)
  • The request is to be submitted to your academic unit.
  • Students whose request is granted are to settle the designated administrative fee within the prescribed period as stated on the approval letter.
  • Students who fail to submit their request for extension three weeks after the expiry of their study period shall be regarded as having withdrawn from their study.
