MPI Students Go Hiking to Celebrate Spring Festival

To welcome the Year of the Ox and stride into the new year with pride and confidence, the Student Affairs Office of the Macao Polytechnic Institute (MPI) organised the “Hike and Succeed” activity on the 6th day of the Chinese New Year to carry out the Chinese New Year tradition of ascending the heights and overlooking afar. The activity was also to wish students good fortune and good health in the Year of the Ox.

It was a bright and sunny day with about 40 MPI students divided into two groups, which set off from the Coloane Seac Min Pun Ancient Path and the Hac Sá Long Chao Kok respectively. With good wishes for the Year of the Ox, students hiked with cheer and laughter, bringing vitality to the new year. Student Huang, majoring in accounting, participated in the route of the Seac Min Pun Ancient Path, said that the scenery along the path was beautiful. Moreover, by climbing up the Coloane Alto (the highest point of Macao), the stunning scene of Macao filled his eyes and he gained a deeper understanding of Macao’s history through visiting the A-Ma Cultural Village. Mr Gomes, a Cape Verde student majoring in Public Administration said that the tradition of ascending the heights in the Chinese New Year was a special experience for him. He felt refreshed while overlooking the gold coast and boundless ocean, and set a goal of studying hard in the new year.

During the Spring Festival, the Student Affairs Office organised a series of activities to celebrate the Chinese New Year with the theme of promoting the excellence of traditional Chinese culture. Through these activities, it is hoped to cultivate students with a brilliant national ethos and wish all students a prosperous new year.
