In compliance with the Macao SAR government policy in continuously improving livelihood services and the quality of life of residents, and in response to the needs of Macao medical institutions and caring institutions, the Macao Polytechnic University trains nursing assistants and improves the knowledge, skills and attitudes of caregivers to ensure the quality of care services. The Centre for Continuing Education of the Macao Polytechnic University launched the "Nursing Assistant Training Course" for the first time in 2022, and registrations were enthusiastic. In response to social needs, Macao Polytechnic University will launch the second "Nursing Assistant Training Course" this year to continue to provide systematic training for those who are interested in joining the health care profession. The "Nursing Assistant Training Course" is now open for registration until February 28, 2024.

In order to allow applicants to have an in-depth understanding of the course objectives, teaching arrangements, registration procedures, etc., a briefing session on the "Nursing Assistant Training Course" will be held at 3:00 pm on January 27, 2024 (Saturday) in Lecture Theatre 2, 1st Floor, Wu Chi Building, Macao Polytechnic University, Rua de Luís Gonzaga Gomes. Those interested in the course are welcome to attend.

The "Nursing Assistant Training Course" will cover biology and basic life sciences, health and medical nursing concepts, nursing practices and principles, introduction to specialist nursing, professional nursing concepts and practices, medical nursing behaviour and sociology, and information technology in the medical field, as well as other professional knowledge and skills training, and includes the cultivation of personal and professional talents such as team building, interpersonal relationships, communication skills, quality and safety, and so on. The course includes 600 hours of nursing theory and practice and 400 hours of clinical practicum. The course has received support from the Health Bureau of the Macao SAR Government to provide clinical practicum venues and instructors. The course is scheduled to run from late March 2024 to December 2025, with clinical practicum starting in August 2025.

The "Nursing Assistant Training Course" is now open for registration until February 28, 2024. Macao residents with a high school diploma or higher academic qualification are eligible to apply for the course. Applicants with working experience as health care personnel in medical care institutions will be given priority. Interested applicants should bring along their Macao Resident Identity Card (original and photocopy), academic qualification documents (original and photocopy), a half-inch front-face photo, and a letter of recommendation from the person in charge of the medical care institution (if available), and register in person at the Centre for Continuing Education of the Macao Polytechnic University, 8th floor of the CEM Building, Estrada D. Maria II.  Registration time is from Monday to Friday from 9 am to 1 pm and from 2:30 pm to 7 pm. Qualified applicants will be required to attend a selection interview and admission to the course will be based on overall assessment.
