MPU's “Soul Recharge Station” Safeguards Students’ Mental and Physical Well-beings

Macao Polytechnic University students have achieved remarkable results in the Mental Health First Aid Standard Course

To promote the physical and mental health development of university students and to cultivate good psychological quality and correct values, the Student Affairs Office of Macao Polytechnic University organised a series of activities named “Soul Recharge Station” to strengthen students’ positive thinking and attitude towards life, balance students’ physical and mental health development, jointly create a sunny campus life and release positive energy in the society.

The “Soul Recharge Station” activity series includes “Horticultural Therapy Workshop”, “Workshop of Friendly Communication and Social Interaction”, “Emotional Health Self-Care Workshop” and “Mental Health First Aid Standard Course”, which cover thematic content, group discussion and sharing, horticultural therapy, and so one, placing equal emphasis on both theory and practice so that students can have a more comprehensive understanding of the content. The activities aim to help students build good interpersonal relationships, improve their capacity against adversity, learn to cope with stress and challenges correctly, use the mental health knowledge and horticultural therapy they have learned to help others, improve their physical and mental well-being, and release positive energy in the campus and society.

Students who participated in the “Horticultural Therapy Workshop” said that the workshop could enhance their understanding, appreciation and experience of nature, better understand the ecological environment of plants and nature, interact with others, share experiences, and increase social opportunities through the workshop, providing students with a platform to promote physical and mental health and self-development. Students who participated in the “Emotional Health Self-care Workshop” said that the Zen painting experience allowed them to relax themselves through the process of focusing on painting, which helped them release life pressure and maintain physical and mental health.

Macao Polytechnic University has always attached great importance to the whole-person development of university students and continues to organise various activities that focus on students’ physical and mental health. By doing so, it aims to help students develop in an all-round and healthy manner, transmit positive energy to students, cultivate students’ correct views on life and values, and become young people in the new era who have the courage to take responsibility and dare to fight.
