Macao Polytechnic University hosts the “TSIGS — Shaping an Innovative Future Together” study tour

In order to deepen the cooperation opportunities in academic research between Macao and mainland higher education institutions, as well as to promote collaborative development between top institutions to create more high-quality science and education collaboration opportunities and jointly cultivate high-end talent, Macao Polytechnic University recently organised the “TSIGS — Shaping an Innovative Future Together” study tour. The initiative brought twenty interdisciplinary graduate students from MPU to visit the Tsinghua University Shenzhen International Graduate School (TSIGS). The group was warmly welcomed by Wu Xiaofeng, Secretary of the CPC Tsinghua University Committee, and Chen Weijian, Deputy Dean. The students engaged in specialised seminars with students and faculty, and also visited leading technology companies in Shenzhen, including multinational technology giant Huawei and other renowned companies, so gaining an in-depth understanding of Shenzhen’s unique cultural and historical background. The students benefitted greatly from this experience.

At the opening ceremony, Wu Xiaofeng welcomed the delegation from Macao Polytechnic University to the Tsinghua University Shenzhen International Graduate School for academic exchanges, aiming to strengthen collaborative research in key areas, such as innovative interdisciplinary studies between the two universities. The initiative aims to facilitate the international development of academic achievements related to high-tech industries, while introducing the history and educational spirit of Tsinghua University to the study group. Lam Chan Tong, Acting Dean of the Faculty of Applied Sciences at MPU, explained that the study tour serves as a valuable platform for graduate students to interact with scholars, experts and entrepreneurs from various fields in the Greater Bay Area, expanding their horizons, enhancing their knowledge, and inspiring their thinking. It is hoped that students from both universities will stay closely connected, jointly shoulder the mission of national development, and strive continuously for social progress and technological innovation.

The participating students said that during the study tour, they had extensive and enriching exchanges with students and faculty from mainland universities on innovative research, high-tech challenges, and impacts on future societal advancements. This wide-ranging and content-rich exchange has motivated them to embark confidently on the path of innovation, apply their expertise practically, and contribute to the development of the Greater Bay Area and the Hengqin Guangdong-Macao Deep Cooperation Zone. This exchange has enhanced the students’ forward-thinking and creative thinking, allowing them to grasp the application and development of cutting-edge technologies, and to experience the new process of national modernisation.

The Student Affairs Office of Macao Polytechnic University, as organiser of the study tour, continuously strengthens cooperation with top universities, advanced enterprises, and institutions at home and abroad. It organises, supports, and encourages students to participate in various types of external exchanges, visits and collaboration activities, thereby enhancing students’ understanding of mainland China and other countries or regions. It actively builds platforms for future youth external exchanges and cooperation, encouraging young people to integrate their personal development with and contribute their efforts to the country’s and the Greater Bay Area’s development.
