In order to continuously strengthen university students' awareness of national security and to promote the spirit of "Loving the Motherland and Loving Macao", 130 faculty, students and alumni of the Macao Polytechnic University (MPU) visited the National Security Education Exhibition at the China-Portuguese-speaking Countries Commercial and Trade Service Platform Complex on 20 April. The participating faculty and students said that the overall security of the country is closely related to the prosperity and stability of Macao and the stability of residents' lives, and is everyone's responsibility to safeguard national security. Meanwhile, all are proud of the achievements of the motherland.

Prof. Im Sio Kei, Rector of MPU, led a group of faculty, students and alumni to visit the National Security Education Exhibition and was warmly received by the Director of the Judiciary Police, Mr. Sit Chong Meng, and Deputy Director, Mr. Tou Sok Sam, as well as the Advisor of the Office of the Secretary for Security, Ms. Wong Hong. Prof. Im Sio Kei said that MPU has been adhering to the administrative philosophy of "taking root in Macao, being backed by the motherland", and focusing on the cultivation of students' affection for the motherland. As education in national circumstances and youth development are mutually reinforcing, MPU has been using a variety of approaches to cultivate and consolidate students' sense of identity, belonging and responsibility towards the country and Macao, and to promote the spirit of patriotism and love for Macao, encourage students to have a spirit of commitment, actively participate in youth development affairs, and contribute their knowledge to society so as to make contributions to the prosperity and stability of the country.

MPU students, Zhang Yueyao, Lu Xiaoan and Zhao Qinghua won the Award of Merit in the essay competition "The Overall View of National Security in My Mind". Zhao Qinghua, who majored in nursing, said that safeguarding national security is the top priority of the whole nation, and young people should take up the mission of promoting national development, as national security and Macao's development are intertwined, and national security is the only way for the motherland and its people to share the stability and prosperity of the country and the society.

Inheriting the core values of "Loving the Motherland and Loving Macao", MPU actively supports the SAR Government's efforts to deepen national security education, increase students' understanding of the country's contemporary development and the concept of national security, and strive to nurture students with a sense of national identity, belonging and national pride. Participants in the National Security Education Exhibition included: Vice-Rector of MPU, Dr. Lei Ngan Lin; Secretary-General, Ms. Lei Vai Fong; President of the Student Union, Ms. Chin Pui Ian; Alumni Association President of the Supervisory Committee, Mr. Ku Man Tat, and Chairman of the Board of Directors, Wong U Kei; heads of academic units, academic support and administrative departments, teachers and students from Macao, Mainland China and Portuguese-speaking countries.
