MPI Organises Career Exploration Field Trips for Students to Understand the Needs of Talent Development of the Society
MPI students learn about market trends outside classrooms.
To assist students in career planning and defining development direction, thus increasing their competitiveness in the employment market, the Student Affairs Office of the Macau Polytechnic Institute (MPI) organised a series of activities entitled “Career Exploration Field Trips”. Recently a visit to The Londoner Macao was organised, which allowed students to walk out of the classroom and learn from practice. Students could learn the management model and the operation of a well-known company in Macao, as well as learn about market trends and talent demands. The visit enables students to broaden their industry vision and prepare for their future developments.
This activity attracted undergraduate and postgraduate students from different areas to join. They visited The Londoner Macao’s facilities, guest rooms, staff back-office, etc to learn about the design concept of the hotel, explore its corporate culture and management model along with its market positioning and working environment. Mr Wang, who is majoring in Master of Science in Big Data and Internet of Things, stated that he obtained great ideas for planning his career through this activity. He learned that as the Age of Artificial Intelligence comes, various industries have increasing demands for big data and IT application talents, in addition to hardware innovation and continuous optimisation. Ms Xie, a student from the programme of Chinese-Portuguese Translation and Interpretation, said that the visit allowed her to appreciate the British style of architecture and the design concept of the hotel suites. She also added that it was worth learning about the company’s attention to small details. Only innovation, creativity and advancing with the times can enhance core competitiveness.
