Inquérito Sobre Alunos Graduados


1. This survey conducted at Macao Polytechnic Institute (MPI) obtained an effective return of 503 questionnaires out of 645 graduates in the academic year 2015-2016, and its respondent rate was 77.98%, with an increase of 9.08% over the last academic year.
2. Among the 503 graduates that responded, local students account for 87.08% whereas non-locals 12.92%.
3. Graduates who are employed account for 74.55%, who go for further studies 9.15%, full-time employed while continuing to study 1.99% and unemployed 14.31%.
4. On average, graduates spent 1.62 months and sent out 9.31 CVs to find a job in this academic year.
5. Graduates who work in Macao earn MOP 17,554 per month whereas those who work in Mainland China earn RMB 4,264 per month.
6. The top four industries for the graduates are: (1) health and social services, (2) public administration, (3) tourism, hotel managing and catering, and (4) education.
7. Over 85% graduates work as junior staff whereas 9.6% are supervisors.
8. Over 75% of graduates work in local establishment.
9. Over 76% graduates currently work in occupations that are related to the programmes they learned in MPI.
10. 88% graduates believe that the programmes they learned in MPI are helpful to their job.
11. Items use to evaluate satisfaction are newly added in this study. They are: 6 items for graduates to evaluate their competences, 1 item about programme, and 3 items about facilities.
12. Graduates’ overall satisfaction with current job is 3.58 (with 5 as the full mark) on average, approximately the same with that of the last academic year. The most satisfied item is “working environment” (3.68) whereas the least is “work expectations” (3.37).
13. As to the location for further studies, universities in Macao are most popular, followed by those in Australia and UK. Over 84% graduates believe curricula in MPI are helpful for their further studies.
14. Graduates are most satisfied with “ethics and moral principles” and their “proficiency in Putonghua”, at 3.98 and 3.89 respectively (with 5 as the full mark), whereas the least are “management skills” and “proficiency in English”, at 3.23 and 3.32 respectively.
15. Overall satisfaction of the programme at MPI reaches 3.81 (with 5 as the full mark). Graduates are most satisfied with “faculties’ attitude” and “professional knowledge”, topped at 3.94 and 3.9 respectively while they are least satisfied with “course applicability”, resting at only 3.62.
16. Overall satisfaction of the facilities at MPI is 3.49 (with 5 as the full mark). Graduates tend to more satisfied with “atmosphere on the campus” at 3.6 while more should be done to improve their satisfaction with “extra-curricular activities”, reaching only 2.86.
