How will you learn? 如何學習

The School promotes active learning within a context of clear learning objectives. Students are encouraged to take responsibility for their own learning. Most modules have a weekly course element and in some this will require collaborative work. We expect informal work groups to emerge particularly in the more numerically based subjects. Clear guidance on basic and supplementary reading is given.

Clinical placement is an essential component in nursing training and is a very critical and important component of the Programme. Students are expected to acquire and integrate knowledge into the real life situation through 'Learning by Doing'. This also provides the chance for the students to meet their potential employers and understand their future working environment. The number of weeks required is 46 (1840 teaching hours) / 46 credits. The placement provides the chance for the student to apply their knowledge and skills. After the completion of clinical placement the student should able to describe the structure, functions and operations of the institute for clinical placement and its nursing service; work with the other members of the health care team, and develop a collaborative working relationship with them; apply the learned knowledge and skills to nursing practice; communicate effectively with the client and establish professional interpersonal relationship with the client; and assess the needs of the client and apply the nursing process to meet these needs.

How will you be assessed? 如何評核
The School schedules an annual examination board which considers all student academic profiles and agrees classification and progression routes. The forms of assessment used are end‐of‐subject examination and continuous assessment. Each subject has its own composition, which is stated in the subject syllabus. The assessment methods include assignments, laboratory practices, presentations, projects, tests and examinations for theoretical subjects, and clinical performance and clinical assignment are usually adopted for subjects of clinical placement. Clear guidance on all assessment methods are given, emphasising in how to avoid plagiarism, together with the rules and procedures. Examinations are typically of a two hour paper undertaken in the December (Sem I) and May (Sem II) diet of exams. Examination papers will be reviewed by Examination Board, and then by External Examiners. All examination papers go through a moderation marking procedure. All first class and fail scripts together with a representative sample of intermediate scripts are sent to the External Examiners for quality control.
