O Professor Paulo Osório is a Full Professor of Portuguese Linguistics at the Faculty of Arts and Letters of the University of Beira Interior, since April 2021.

He holds a Bachelor's degree in Humanities - Portuguese, Latin, and Greek from the Faculty of Letters of the Portuguese Catholic University (1994). He completed his Master's degree in Portuguese Linguistics at the Faculty of Letters of the University of Coimbra (1998) and obtained his Ph.D. in Letters (Portuguese Linguistics) from the University of Beira Interior (2002). He completed his Post-Doctorate studies in Letters (Language Studies) at PUC-Rio (2006) and received the title of Aggregated Professor in 2009 in the field of Letters (Portuguese Linguistics) from the University of Beira Interior.

His research focuses on Historical Linguistics, History of the Portuguese Language, Variation of Portuguese, and L2 and L3 Acquisition and Learning. He has supervised numerous Master's dissertations, Ph.D. theses, and post-doctoral projects in these areas. Professor Osório has given lectures in various countries including Portugal, Brazil, Spain, Poland, Macau, Germany, Cape Verde, Angola, Venezuela, the United States, France, and the United Kingdom. He is the author of many books and articles and is also a member of the Scientific Committee of international journals in his field of expertise. He serves as a member of the Scientific Committees of several international journals in his areas of specialization, as well as a member of international and national scientific organizations in the field. He presided over the International Association of Portuguese Linguistics (AILP) between 2014-2017.

Currently, he collaborates on research projects at the Institute of Galician Language at the University of Santiago de Compostela and is a guest researcher at the Nêmesis Group (Lexicology and History of the Portuguese Language Studies) at the Federal University of Bahia, the Historical Linguistics Group at the Federal University of Minas Gerais, and the Portuguese Semantic Studies Group at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro. In Portugal, he is a member of the LabCom at the University of Beira Interior and a collaborator of the Center for Languages, Literatures, and Cultures at the University of Aveiro.

In terms of teaching, he has taught short courses at foreign universities, particularly in Brazil and Spain. Notably, he collaborated with the Faculty of Philology at the University of Salamanca during the second semester of the academic year 2017/2018. He has also held various academic management positions, including the General Council, the Scientific Council, and the Presidency of the Department of Letters. Currently, he serves as the President of the Pedagogical Council of the Faculty of Arts and Letters at the University of Beira Interior.
