Dr. Dan Wang is currently an associate professor from the School of Hospitality and Tourism Management, the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. She received her Ph.D. degree from the Temple University, USA and has been awarded a variety of research grants since then. She was invited to participate in various media reports and was the Emerging Scholar of Distinction awarded by the International Academy for the Study of Tourism in 2019. Dr. Wang has a wide range of teaching and research interests. Her areas of teaching expertise include Information Technology Strategy, Digital Marketing and Analytics, and Research Methods; and her areas of research expertise include the impact of mobile Internet on tourist experience, tourists’ on-site decision-making, Chinese tourist behaviors and virtual reality experience.
Dr. Wang has been an Associate Editor of Annals of Tourism Research since 2018, Regional Editor of Journal of Hospitality and Tourism Technology since 2017, and the Paper Review Chair of the Graduate Education & Graduate Student Research Conference in Hospitality and Tourism in 2017, 2019 and 2020. Dr. Wang has also served as a guest editor and editorial board member of several core academic journals, including Tourism Management, Journal of Travel Research, etc.
In addition, Dr. Wang has over 80 articles published in the Social Science Core Journals (SSCI), including Tourism Management, Annals of Tourism Research, International of Contemporary Hospitality Tourism Management, Annals of Tourism Research, International of Contemporary Hospitality, etc. Dr Wang Dan has also co-authored several academic books and has been invited to give speeches at various international conferences, such as the Asia Pacific Forum. She published more than 30 conference papers and won several best paper awards, including the Best Conference Paper Premier Award at the Global Marketing Conference (2018), Journal Paper of the Year Award (First place) at the International Federation for IT and Travel & Tourism (IFITT) 2013, etc. As of August 2023, Dr Dan Wang has 7,469 citations to her academic papers and a Google Scholar h-index of 34.
