Adverse Weather Arrangements

Arrangements for Classes and Examinations of Degree Programmes during Adverse Weather Conditions

 

  1. These arrangements are applicable to the degree programmes and students of Macao Polytechnic University.
     
  2. Tropical Cyclone Signal or Rainstorm Warning Signal

1)
When Tropical Cyclone Signal No. 1 or No. 3/Yellow or Red Rainstorm Warning Signal is hoisted or in force, all classes and examinations will be held as scheduled.

2) 
When Tropical Cyclone Signal No. 8 or above/Black Rainstorm Warning Signal is hoisted or in force, the following arrangements will apply.

a. Before the start of classes and examinations: 

When the signal is hoisted or in force Classes/Examinations will be suspended
at or after 6:30 a.m. before 2:00 p.m.
at or after 12:00 noon from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.
at or after 4:00 p.m. from 6:00 p.m. onwards

b. During classes and examinations:

Signal Classes Examinations*
Tropical Cyclone Signal No. 8 or above suspend immediately continue as scheduled
Black Rainstorm Warning Signal
* All outdoor examinations will be suspended immediately.

c. If the signal is hoisted or in force while outdoor classes and examinations are taking place, the instructor or the staff responsible should take all students to a safe place and make sure that it is safe before letting them leave. 

3) When Tropical Cyclone Signal No. 8 or above/Black Rainstorm Warning Signal is cancelled, all classes and examinations will be resumed as follows. All outdoor teaching activities on that day will be cancelled.

When the signal is cancelled Classes / Examinations will be resumed
at or before 6:30 a.m. as scheduled
at or before 12:00 noon from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.
at or before 4:00 p.m. from 6:00 p.m. onwards
  1. If classes or examinations have to be suspended due to special adverse weather conditions, an announcement will be issued.
     
  2. Students who are participating in internships should follow the related arrangements and guidelines of their corresponding programmes.
     
  3. The University reserves the right of final decision on matters not listed above.
