This survey conducted at Macao Polytechnic Institute (IPM) obtained an effective return of 475 questionnaires out of 645 graduates in the academic year 2018/2019, and its response rate was 73.64%. The successful response rate earlier has been the third highest, compared with the previous rates in the same type of surveys of the Institute. Among all programmes, the Computing, Sino-Lusophone Trade Relations, Accounting, Public Administration, Social Work, Biomedical Technology (Medical Laboratory Technology), Biomedical Technology (Pharmacy Technology), and Physical Education are the ones with more than 80% graduates who have participated in the survey.
Among the 475 graduates who responded, local students account for 83.58% whereas non-local students 16.42%.
Graduates who are employed account for 75.58% of all the responded graduates, those who are seeking further studies 16.63%, those unemployed 8.42%, and those not seeking employment 1.26%.
83% of the graduates found their jobs by the end of September 2019.
On average, graduates have sent out 5 applications to find a job in this academic year.
Graduates who work in Macao earn MOP 17,446 per month (median), or MOP17,963 as average monthly salary. Graduates who work in China’s Mainland earn CNY 6,907 per month (median) or CNY 7,068 as average monthly salary.
The top four occupations for the graduates are: (1) healthcare and nursing, (2) community service, (3) education, and (4) communications and computer.
More than 7% of the graduates are in management positions.
Over 72% graduates work in local establishments.
More than 64% graduates indicate that their occupations are related to the programmes they studied in IPM.
More than 63% graduates think that the programmes they studied in IPM are helpful to their jobs.
41.23% of employed graduates indicated that they are willing to work in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area in the coming years.
Graduates are most satisfied with “Working environment” (3.77 out of) whereas the least is “Remuneration and benefits” (3.37).
As to the location for further studies, the univerisities in Macao are most popular, followed by those in Australia, United Kingdom, and Portugal. More than 75% of the graduates think their programmes are helpful for their further studies.
The item of core abilities that graduates are most satisfied with “Teamwork” (3.83 out of 5).
Overall satisfaction of the programmes at IPM reaches 3.71 out of 5. Graduates are most satisfied with “Faculties’ attitude”, topped at 3.95.
