This survey conducted at Macao Polytechnic Institute (MPI) obtained an effective return of 484 questionnaires out of 661 graduates in the academic year 2017-2018, and its response rate was 73.22%. The successful response rate earlier has been the third highest, compared with the previous rates between academic years 2011-2012 and 2016-2017. Among all programmes, the Design, Physical Education, Medical Laboratory Technology, and Pharmacy Technology are the ones with more than 80% graduates who have participated in the survey.
Among the 484 graduates who responded, local students account for 75.21% whereas non-local students 24.79%.
Graduates who are employed account for 78.92%, those who are seeking further studies 12.19%, those unemployed 7.23% and those not seeking employment 1.65%.
69.37% of graduates have got job offers by the end of July in 2018.
On average, graduates have sent out 5 applications to find a job in this academic year.
Graduates who work in Macao earn MOP 16,676 per month on average whereas those who work in China’s mainland earn RMB 7,068 per month (average).
The top four occupations for the graduates are: (1) healthcare and nursing, (2) community service, (3) education and (4) creative and art.
Over 11% of the employed graduates are supervisors.
More than 71% graduates work in local establishments.
Over 73% graduates indicate that their occupations are related to the programmes they studied in MPI.
More than 69% graduates think that the programmes they studied in MPI are helpful to their jobs.
Graduates are most satisfied with “Working environment” (3.72 out of 5) whereas the least is “Work expectations” (3.42).
As to the location for further studies, the universities in Macao are most popular, followed by those in Hong Kong, Australia and Portugal. Over 89% graduates think their programmes are helpful for their further studies.
Graduates are most satisfied with “Teamwork” (3.72 out of 5).
Overall satisfaction of the programme at MPI reaches 3.7 out of 5. Graduates are most satisfied with “Faculty-student relationship”, topped at 3.97.
