First of all, I would like to thank MPI for giving me an opportunity to participate in this oversea study tour. I really enjoyed spending three weeks in Melbourne. In the Global Professionals Program (GPP), I have learned a lot of beneficial information and techniques, such as small talks, communication skills with people, working styles of different countries, team working and presentation skills. Although I have given up many things before joining the program, now I am proud to say that I do not regret making this decision and I have truly gained a lot of valuable experience. In these few weeks, I have known the different cultures about Australia and Japan, including their life styles, hobbies, tradition and history. I am happy to make friends with them, who are very kind and friendly. If I have time, I will definitely visit their country in the future. In addition, I was surprised that they were interested in the Chinese culture and they were eager to learn Mandarin from us. Some people have already learned some words and can speak quite well.

In my opinion, Melbourne is a very modern and multicultural city where people from various countries can live there in harmony. Besides, Australia is really a big country but the density of population is rather low. To be honest, there are numerous dramatic differences between the lifestyles in Melbourne and Macau. There are fewer skyscrapers in Melbourne and it is less crowded than Macau. I can see the beautiful starry sky at night. In addition, people love eating sandwiches for lunch. Actually, one of our trainers was called “sandwich man”. But I am not really used to eating sandwiches. In fact, what impressed me the most was that the local people were good listeners. They were patient and polite and they focused on eye contacts and nodded their heads when listening to others, showing that they were following what others said. I think it was a sign of respect and care. Furthermore, their transportation services were always punctual and we needed not worry that we would be late due to traffic jam.

In these three weeks, I have really visited and done many things in Melbourne. I have visited many different famous places and scenic spots, including the State Library, Arts Centre, National Gallery of Victoria, Brighton Beach, Phillip Island, Queen Victoria Night Market, Ice Bar, DFO Outlet and Great Ocean Road, etc. Also, I have made a lot of new attempts, which I have never tried before in my whole life, for example, playing the game of “escape room”, eating oysters, feeding kangaroos and seeing koala and penguins.

In addition to expressing gratitude to our school, I would also like to thank my friends in Melbourne because they were smart and took care of me throughout the whole trip. If they had not constantly encouraged me to try many new things, I think I would never have had such a lot of valuable and unforgettable experiences.
