The Macao Polytechnic Institute (MPI) has, since 2009, organised a series of international conferences on various topics of higher education including the construction of a modern university system, the new frontiers of teaching and learning quality assurance in higher education, and teaching and learning quality assurance in higher education under the pandemic. This year, MPI continues to cooperate with the Asia-Pacific Quality Network (APQN) in organising the seventh conference in this series.

Since the impact of the novel coronavirus pandemic, different countries and regions in the world continue to adjust their teaching models in response to the circumstance of the pandemic, which may be quite different from traditional teaching models. About the organisers

Macao Polytechnic Institute

Macao Polytechnic Institute (MPI) is a public tertiary institution in Macao. It offers a number of undergraduate and joint postgraduate programmes, which are all practically oriented, in an extensive range of academic areas. MPI has long upheld the principles of student-centeredness and quality teaching, endeavouring to continuously improve teaching and learning quality. Since 2011, MPI has started passing programme accreditation or validation of its bachelor’s degree programmes by accreditation agencies of international standing and professional organisations. In 2014, MPI has successfully passed an Institutional Review by the Quality Assurance Agency, UK, becoming the first higher education institution in Macao with a successful international Institutional Review. In 2015 and again in 2017, MPI were awarded APQN Quality Award twice, the first higher education institution in Hong Kong and Macao to receive such international recognition. The Institute hosts an international conference on teaching and learning quality assurance in higher education every year to keep abreast of the latest development in the field of quality assurance, providing a platform for scholars and practitioners to learn the good practices of institutions worldwide in order to continuously optimise their quality assurance systems.

Asia-Pacific Quality Network

The Asia-Pacific Quality Network (APQN) is a non-governmental and non-profit network with 241 members from 42 countries and territories. Its aim is “to enhance the quality of higher education in the Asia-Pacific Region through strengthening the work of quality assurance both internal and external organisations and extending the cooperation amongst each other” for its ultimate goal of "Dissolving Boundaries for a Quality Region". Since APQN’s inception in 2003, it has been continuously fighting “to enhance the quality of higher education”. After the 17-year development, APQN has become the largest and the most influential international organisation in this Region. It has played a crucial role in improving the quality assurance mechanism, exchanging theory and practice experiences, promoting substantive co-operations among members and establishing quality platforms of APQR, APQL, Consultants and others in this Region.
