Abstract

This study aims to examine the relationship among the spiritual well-being of university students (major in Accounting) in Macau, demographic backgrounds, and student part-time work experiences towards their academic successes measured by Cumulative Grade-Point Average (CGPA) using quantitative method. The research consists of 101 accounting students from a tertiary institute in Macau. The questionnaire is adapted from the Spiritual Health and Life-Orientation Measure (SHALOM) developed by Gomez and Fisher (2003). A comparison study with another university programme (n= 133) of a similar study carried out by Pong (2017) in Hong Kong were conducted. Results of both two student samples demonstrate that the accounting student academic performance was contributed by the personal domain of SHALOM and the demographic backgrounds of students. The student’s part-time work experiences exercised negative impact.
