Abstract This study was conducted to determine the effectiveness of the instructional material (IM) in Research Methods. Quasi-experimental research design was utilized with two intact classes of pre-service teachers in the College of Education at one government higher education institution in Mindanao. Pretests and posttests were administered to the participants of the study before and after the use of IM to ascertain the changes in students’ performance, self-efficacy beliefs and attitude towards Research. There was a significant difference in the performance, self-efficacy beliefs and attitude of students toward Research before and after the pretest and posttest in Research Methods. The IM in Research Methods is found effective in enhancing student learning. This IM is now being used by both pre-service and post graduate students. It is suggested that the instructional material in Research Methods be revised and updated to include Mixed- Methods Research. Moreover, students are encouraged to use the book for easy understanding of the conduct of research in any field of expertise. |
