The Practice of the Quality Assurance System in the Computing Programme at the Macao Polytechnic Institute

This paper seeks to contribute to public policy formulation and to attract more attention to the development of higher education in Macau by sharing the experiences and challenges of formulating and implementing the quality assurance (QA) system for the Computing Programme at the Macao Polytechnic Institute. This system eventually enabled the Programme to become the first bachelor degree programme to attain the status of higher education academic accreditation in Macao by the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET). However, we do not consider ourselves yet to have achieved totally satisfactory QA practices, especially being self-critical and reflective, and the need for continuous improvement being some important lessons learnt in the process.
