Themes

In addition to research the two other most important functions of higher education are teaching and learning. This conference will adopt a wide-ranging view of what constitutes the factors impacting upon learning and teaching, regarding teachers as any member of staff involved in facilitating student learning, and teaching as anything a teacher does to facilitate learning. In addition, all who are involved with or interact with students, such as in placement contexts, can be regarded as part of the students’ learning environment and therefore having an impact upon the quality of teaching and learning. Spreading the net even wider, the practices and resources that enable students to develop and achieve their academic, personal and professional potential are also essential determinants of the effectiveness of teaching and learning. This conference therefore welcomes papers relating to quality assurance with a specific focus on the enhancement of teaching and learning in the broad sense outlined above.

The organisers will be pleased to receive submissions of proposals for paper presentation under the following sub-themes:

  •  Theories and practices in teaching and learning
  •  QA systems for teaching and learning in the Asia-Pacific region
  •  Professional development for teachers and the enhancement of teaching and learning
  •  QA and the development of student engagement in processes aimed at teaching and learning enhancement
  •  Educational technologies, social media and their impacts on teaching and learning
  •  The uses of institutional data to assure, and enhance, the quality of teaching and learning
