“Master of Government Management” to be Offered at MPI

To foster higher education cooperation between Taiwan and Macao the Chinese Culture University (CCU) will offer its “Master of Government Management”in Macao, in collaboration with Macao Polytechnic Institute (MPI). The programme press conference was held recently in MPI. Through offering this programme CCU and MPI will provide MPI and Macao students opportunities for further study,and to cultivate their public administration talents,  enable more mobility of talent, and further contribute to the social and economic development of Macao.

The press conference for the CCU “Master of Government Management” was held on 23 July 16:30 at MPI. Professor Lei Heong Iok, President of MPI, attended the press conference with the programme details being introduced by Professor Shaw Chong-Hai, Dean of the College of Social Sciences of the Chinese Culture University, Dr. Im Sio Kei, Marcus Director of School of Public of Administration of MPI and Ms. Che Wai Sam, a representative from the Registry. Dr. Im noted that MPI and CCU had experienced valuable cooperation in the academic area for many years, this including teachers and student exchanges, joint seminars and research projects. Based on this firm foundation, MPI and CCU were able to further enhance the level of cooperation by offering the “Master of Government Management” in Macao in order to provide a further study opportunity for our graduates of Public Administration and Macao students.In addition, through this academic cooperation teachers from MPI would be able to more deeply understand and learn about the outstanding school system and teaching methods of Taiwan higher education. This would broaden the horizons of our teaching teams and further enhance our teaching quality.

Professor Shaw Chong-Hai expressed his gratitude to the Secretariat for Social Affairs and Culture of Macao, the Tertiary Education Services Office of Macao and Macao Polytechnic Institute. Introducing the programme arrangements Professor Shaw Chong-Hai said that the “Master of Government Management” is intended to foster both theoretical and practical knowledge of senior administrative talent in order to handle the increasingly complex administrative services in both public and private sectors. To cope with globalization and developments in information technology the programme is actively engaged in international academic exchange activities, regularly organizing lectures and seminars. Parts of the courses will teach the application of knowledge by utilizing a combination of community resources, cultivating within students solid knowledge of public administration and leadership skills and improving their research innovation in public administration and public policy related areas. Subjects studied include representative politics, public policy analysis, social science research methods, non-profit organization management, contemporary public governance, globalization and cross-border governance. There are also 6 elective courses taken from a choice of 24. The  duration of study is two years. Students completing the  course successfully will be awarded the Chinese Culture University’s “Master of Law”
