Renowned painting and calligraphy artist Cui Ruzhuo visited MPI
On 26 February 2021, the renowned painting and calligraphy artist Cui Ruzhuo visited the School of Arts of Macao Polytechnic Institute (MPI) and was warmly welcomed by MPI President Im Sio Kei. The artist, as well as other guests of honour, discussed cordially and interacted with teachers and students in a lively atmosphere.
Cui Ruzhuo, born in Beijing in 1944, is a famous painter, connoisseur and collector of antiques. He has received numerous awards for his artistic achievement in international exhibitions, and has been regarded one of the best-selling artists in the world. The teachers and students of MPI extended a warm welcome to Cui Ruzhuo, thanked him for his support, and introduced the professional studios and facilities of the School of Arts of MPI, its development and educational philosophy of talent cultivation. MPI is committed to nurturing high-quality artistic talents in the fields of arts, performance and cultural creativity for the respective industries in Macao and the Greater Bay Area, as well as around the world. Cui Ruzhuo acknowledged the teaching characteristics of MPI, hoped that MPI would continue to develop its own artistic and creative characteristics, training high-quality artistic talents, and thus contributing to the artistic community. At the end of his visit, Cui Ruzhuo left a message of his art in calligraphy on paper, writing: "The sea of artistic creativity has no margin", to MPI teachers and students.
The artist, accompanied by other guests, visited MPI's School of Arts, Cultural and Creative Industries Teaching and Research Centre, the professional facilities of the Visual Arts Programme, including the Drawing Studio, the Printmaking Studio, the Sculpture Studio, the Ceramics Studio and the Photography Studio, etc. The teachers and students also presented the teaching and learning achievement to the guests. The event of the famous artist's visit to MPI was attended by the advisor of the Office of the Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture of the Macao SAR Government, Lo Hou Chi; the President of the Cultural Affairs Bureau of the Macao SAR Government, Mok Ian Ian; the head of Department of Exhibition and Museums of the Cultural Affairs Bureau of the Macao SAR Government, Sam Hou In; the Vice President of MPI, Lei Ngan Lin; the Acting Director of the School of Arts, Lai Ming Hoi; the Director of Cultural and Creative Industries Teaching and Research Centre, Wen Kuo-Hsun; the Programme Coordinator of the Bachelor of Arts in Visual Arts of MPI, Chang Sow-Wei and other guests.
