Dr. Leong Ko
Chinese-English Translation & Interpretation (Bachelor's degree)
Dr. Leong Ko, Senior Lecturer in Translation, Interpreting and Chinese Language of School of Languages and Cultures, the University of Queensland, is a high profile translator and interpreter. Dr. Ko is NAATI Advanced Translator and Interpreter (awarded in 1991) and the Chair of the Chinese Panel of NAATI. Dr. Ko is the founding Program Convenor of MA in Chinese Translation and Interpreting at UQ. Dr. Ko is also editor for International Journal of Media and Translation Studies, Translation Watch Quarterly and numerous other academic journals, and acts as External Academic Adviser for Department of Translation, Lingnan University, Hong Kong and External Assessor for the Translation & Interpretation programme, SIM University, Singapore.
Dr. Ko has authored and co-authored six books on Chinese-English translation and interpreting pedagogy and other research topics, and co-edited three collected volumes with Rodopi, Bookman and Commercial Press of Hong Kong. Dr. Ko has translated four books and published a large number of first-tier journal papers appearing in Interpreting, Linguistica Antverpiensia, Babel, Perspectives, Meta, Translation Quarterly, Translation Watch Quarterly, Journal of Foreign Languages, Foreign Language Teaching and Research. His book chapters are published with prestigious publishers such as Multilingual Matters, Rodopi, John Benjamins, Melbourne University Press Edwin Mellen Press, Bookman. Dr. Ko contributed the entry “E-learning” in Routledge Encyclopaedia of Interpreting Studies (2015), giving keynotes and delivering invited talks at international conferences and events. Dr. Ko has been engaged in various research projects funded by Hanban of China, the University of Queensland and other educational institutions.
Dr. Ko obtained his BA and MA in Xiamen University and earned his PhD at the University of Queensland.
