Macao Polytechnic University and Alumni Association Work Hand in Hand to Promote Youth Development in the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin

In order to strengthen its relationship with its alma mater and promote youth development, Mr Wong U Kei, Chairman of the 12th Alumni Association and members visited Macao Polytechnic University on 10th March, 2022, and were cordially received by the Rector, Prof. Im Sio Kei, Vice-Rector, Dr. Lei Ngan Lin and Secretary-General, Ms Lei Vai Fong.  Both parties had a pleasant discussion and exchange about the future work focus of the Alumni Association, university pedagogy, the latest developments in scientific research, and the issue of joint promotion of youth’s integration into regional cooperation.  

Rector Im Sio Kei welcomed the association’s visit, and acknowledged the results of the past work and effort of the Alumni Association.  Special credits were given to its cooperation with higher institutions and youth organisations both in Macao and overseas, and the investment in the construction of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area was fully recognised.  It is hoped that the Alumni Association will continue to inherit the spirit of patriotism and love for Macao, meet the objectives of “The Second Five-Year Plan for Economic and Social Development of the Macao Special Administrative Region (MSAR) 2021 to 2025”, to further play the role as a bridge, to build a communication platform, and help young people integrate into regional cooperation and construction.  While higher education enters a new period of development, MPU will continue to support the development of the Alumni Association and write a new chapter in the Guangdong-Macao in-depth cooperation in Hengqin.

Mr Wong U Kei expressed gratitude to MPU’s support and affirmation of the work of the association over the years.  He reported on the summary of work of the past year and talked about future work.  He also added that the Alumni Association would continue to work hard to cooperate with the implementation of the Macao Youth Policy (2021-2030), unite alumni from all over the world and keep on supporting the development of their alma mater.  Moreover, through organising cultural exchanges and social practice activities, alumni would go into the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin, the Greater Bay Area, and different cities in China to learn about the development of youth in those areas, so as to better help them integrate into the overall development of the country.  Mr Liu Kun Him, President of the General Assembly, and Mr Ku Man Tat, President of the Supervisory Committee introduced the work plans of the Association and cooperation with other organisations.

Other members of the Alumni Association present in the visit included Mr Chan Kam Seng, Vice-Chairman of the General Assembly, Ms Helena Maria Wan, Mr Wong Man Hang, Ms Lei On Kei, Mr Lei Kai Ieong, Executive Vice-Chairman of the Board of Directors, Mr Chau Hong Cheng, Ms Cheong Sok Teng, Mr Lai Ka Kit, Ms Lei In Kei, Vice-Chairman of the Board of Directors, Ms Ho I Kuan, Mr Lao Ka Chon and Mr Chu Kin Fat, Executive Director of the Board of Directors.  Ms Lao Weng Ian, Head of the Student Affairs Office and Ms Chan Iok Leng, Head of the Public Relations Office of the Macao Polytechnic University also attended the meeting.
