MPI Organises Online Sharing for Student Career Development

The first online career fair of Macao Polytechnic Institute (MPI) started in early April. With a series of career talks and workshops, the fair aims to provide not only the latest industry information but also job-hunting techniques for students without requiring them to leave home during this epidemic period. This year, co-organised with the Greater Bay Area Aviation Exchange Association (GBAA), MPI Alumni Association and MPI Student Union, the Student Affairs Office of MPI held its first online sharing session of "The Development of Aviation Industry and its Career Paths" live streaming on a social platform, attracting nearly 3,000 views in a day.

Participating guests included Stanley Kan, Chairman of GBAA and Alumni of MPI, Eric Fong, Director of Marketing, Macau International Airport Co Ltd, and Celia Lao, CEO of AirAsia Hong Kong & Macao. Frankie Wong, Chairman of the Board of Directors, MPI Alumni Association was the moderator of the event and Chris Lam, President of the MPI Student Union attended as a student representative to raise questions. There were in-depth discussions and practical advice was given on topics related to the aviation industry’s job requirements, career planning, the anti-epidemic measures, the development of Macau International Airport and the vision of the aviation industry in the Greater Bay Area.

The guests shared their experiences in different fields of the aviation industry, introduced the development and challenges faced, as well as how it is beneficial to build up global vision and internationalisation by working in the industry. There are various positions in the industry open to students in different professional areas. The guests encouraged students to be well-equipped, well-planned and choose the right path of their career. In the Q&A session, the guests responded to students’ concerns, such as the recruitment process, training, and career planning of the industry.

MPI constantly cares about students’ growth and development. It has taken various measures to support students’ study, employment, and entrepreneurship in response to the changes brought by the epidemic prevention period. Through the cooperation with different sectors of the community, MPI hopes the sharing session can serve as an open and effective platform for students to interact with professionals and industry leaders, and to keep informed of the latest developments of the industry. Students are encouraged to take advantage of the opportunities by equipping themselves and staying competitive.
