“Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao University Smart Education Seminar” is held at MPI.
Experts and scholars from 25 higher education institutions in Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao discuss resources and information exchange cooperation in higher education institutions

In order to promote the resources and information exchange of smart education in Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, and strengthen the cooperation in the field of science and technology between universities in Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao, the “Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao University Smart Education Seminar” jointly organised by the Computer Academy of Guangdong (CAG) and the Macao Polytechnic Institute (MPI), implemented by the Higher Education Network Engineering and Education Information Committee of CAG, and the Computer Service Centre of MPI, co-organised by the Centre for Teaching and Learning Enhancement of the University of Macau, was held at MPI on June 21. A total of 25 representatives from higher education institutions participated in the exchanges and discussions on topics such as smart campus construction, university informationisation, and resource and information sharing.

At the seminar, Im Sio Kei, President of MPI, welcomed experts and scholars from the fields of higher education information in Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao to gather together and collaborate on the exchange and cooperation mechanism between the information technology departments of the higher education institutions, so as to promote the exchange of technology and experience sharing among institutions, expand ideas and jointly improve the standards of service teaching, research and management in the institutions, to deepen the depth of cooperation in smart education among the institutions in the three localities and broaden the breadth of cooperation between them. Im Sio Kei emphasised that the Macao SAR government attaches importance to the development of education, and upholds the principles of “Letting Macao thrive through education” and “Building Macao with talent”. With Macao’s Higher Education Regulations taking effect, the quality of education will be further guaranteed and continuously improved, and the sustainable development of higher education will be effectively promoted. He looked forward to further promoting the cooperation between Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao higher education institutions through this seminar. Ji Fei, Director of the Information Network Engineering and Research Center of the South China University of Technology, and Wan Kam Meng, President of the Macao Computer Society, delivered speeches at the seminar. Representatives from Sun Yat-sen University, The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, University of Macau, and Macao Polytechnic Institute gave keynote speeches.

During the seminar, Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao higher education institutions prepared for signing the “Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao University Smart Campus Alliance” agreement to build a smart campus alliance that would strengthen collaboration in professional fields such as smart campus construction, network security system construction, new technology exchange learning, research cooperation, information construction, operation and maintenance management, and talents development, and would promote the sharing of resources and information for smart education. The smart campus alliance is a professional alliance established under the framework of the “Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macau University Alliance”. The establishment of the professional alliance has actively responded to the role of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area in encouraging the full play of the role of the “Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macau University Alliance”, and further strengthened the exchanges and cooperation between higher education institutions in Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao.

Representatives of the higher education institutions participating in the seminar included: Sun Yat-Sen University, South China University of Technology, Jinan University, South China Agricultural University, Southern Medical University, Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine, South China Normal University, Guangdong University of Technology, Guangdong University of Foreign Studies, Shantou University, Shenzhen University, Southern University of Science and Technology, Guangzhou University, Foshan University, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Lingnan University, The University of Hong Kong, City University of Hong Kong, The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Hong Kong Baptist University, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, The Education University of Hong Kong, University of Macau, Macao Polytechnic Institute and Macau University of Science and Technology.
