MPI Alumni Association’s “Power of Life” Career Planning Sharing Session Held

To cultivate a positive and optimistic attitude in our students and enable them to effectively plan for the future, MPI Alumni Association organized a "power of life" career planning sharing session. Mr. Ng Kuok Kun (K.K.), a boxing athlete in Macau, and Mr. Cheang Chi Meng (Miker), a mountaineering instructor, were invited to share with students their life experiences and how to face and overcome difficulties. During the session there were some highlighted excerpts shared, including competition and training clips of Ng Kuok Kuan and a clip of Miker Cheang climbing Mount Everest.

The sharing session was held on December 1st, and started at 7 pm in the Wui Chi Building's Lecture Theatre 2. It was chaired by Alumnus Miker Cheang, who graduated from the Bachelor of Science in Physical Education and Sports, and student Ng Kuok Kun, the first professional boxing athlete in Macao and now studying a Bachelor of Physical Education. During the session the two speakers shared the difficulties that they had encountered and how they had planned their lives and followed their dreams. Their experiences made an impact on the lives of others and provided lots of inspiration for the young people and audience. Their persistence, perseverance and confidence have become real models for MPI students and alumni. Both Miker and K.K. expressed their gratitude to MPI for their education.

Miker advised young people to learn with humility: “Confidence laced with humility, one has to be humble enough to bend down in order to climb up a higher mountain”. K.K. Ng encouraged students saying: “Life is full of frustration and challenges, but if we persist, we can overcome them one by one.” The sharing session revealed true sentiments and moved all the participants resulting in 20 rounds of applause. Guests attending the sharing session included: Professor Yang Zai Huai, Director of MPI’s School of Physical Education and Sports, Dr. Vivian Lei, Head of the Academic Affairs Department and Ms. Linda Lei, Head of the Student Affairs Office.
