Inauguration of New Management Board of Alumni Association

The MPI Alumni Association recently held a General Meeting at their office to elect the new cabinet for 2015 – 2017. During the meeting the Chairman of the Board of Directors, Wong U Kei, summarized the work and financial status of the Association over the last two years and this was approved by the Supervisory Committee. Following the election of new board members, Liu Kun Him and Ku Man Tat were elected as Presidents of the General Assembly and Supervisory Committee respectively, Wong U Kei continuing as President of the Board of Directors. The inauguration ceremony was held on October 16 at Waldo Hotel with Professor Lei Heong Iok, President of MPI and Mr. He Gang, representative from the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Macao SAR, invited to witness the oaths given by the board members of MPI Alumni Association.  

Speaking at the inauguration, President Lei Heong Iok spoke of his appreciation of the Alumni Association for their concern and support for MPI’s development over the past 10 years. He said that MPI would continue to support the development of the Alumni Association and wished them a prosperous future. President Lei also took the opportunity to report that the Institute would continue to focus on Macao's economic development, with Portuguese-speaking and gaming as the main academic areas, and cultural, creative and other subjects for ‘branding’ as school characteristics, to cultivate talents for Macao and neighboring regions.
      
The President of Supervisory Committee of the Alumni Association, Mr. Ku Man Tat, said that they would adhere to upholding the Alumni Association spirit, perform every task well, continue to improve the alumni system, actively recruit members and walk hand-in-hand with their alma mater for further development. In addition the association would make use of information technology to enhance and optimize the services capability and efficiency of the internet platform, and remain committed to provide the latest news to our alumni and keep contact with them.

Chairman of the Board of Directors, Mr. Wong U Kei, expressed his gratitude towards the dragon boat team who have represented the Alumni Association in recent years to participate in both local and overseas competitions. They have achieved good results and this plays a very positive role in promoting our alma mater.  Mr. Wong said he would continue to lead the team to listen to the opinions of alumni through a variety of channels and conduct in-depth research, analysis, and effectively develop the association. At the same time they would improve the alumni communications work, trying to improve the alumni network and databases, strengthening the connection between alumni from abroad and their alma mater.

The guests attending the ceremony also included Mr. Chan Wai Cheong, Secretary-General of MPI, Dr. Choi Kok Kun, Director of the School of Business, Dr. Liu Ming, Director of the School of Health Sciences, Professor Yang Zai Huai, Director of the School of Physical Education and Sports, Dr. Lam Wan Mei, Director of the Seniors Academy, Mr. Ho Chi Wai, Deputy Director of The Youth Committee of the University of Macau Alumni Association, Mr. Cheong Man Wai, Chairman of the University of Macau Alumni Sport Association, Mr. Kan Hou In, President of Macao Professional Development Association, Mr. Lok Lin Kam, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of South China University of Technology Alumni Association of Macau.
