    In view of the continuous recurrence of COVID-19 epidemic and the recent inclusion of more cities in mainland China as medium and high-risk areas, the National Health Commission of People’s Republic of China has called the public attention to reduce the flow of people during Lunar New Year. The Macao SAR Government has also called to stay in Macao during the Lunar New Year Holidays to avoid cross-border movement and travel to medium and high-risk areas, so as to reduce the risk of epidemic rebound.   • In response to COVID-19 epidemic, all classes of the degree programmes in MPI still remain suspended. Students should continue with e-learning at home. The date of class resumption is subject to future announcements from the Macao SAR government. Non-local students do not need to return to Macao for classes until classes resume. Dormitory students should try to stay in the dormitory to avoid crowded gatherings, reduce leaving Macao and take personal measures for epidemic prevention. MPI teaching facilities, Library, laboratories and sports facilities will remain closed until further notice.

  • Gradual Resumption of MPI-Bell Courses [Post: 02/03/2020]

    From 2nd March, 2020, MPI-Bell Centre of English will gradually start to resume its English language courses. For further news, please watch for your SMS and/or email messages.

  • Library Closure Notice [Post: 02/03/2020]

    In view of the latest development of COVID-19 epidemic, Library will continue to be closed until further notice. The due date of checkout-items will be extended during the Library closure period and the Library events will also be suspended until after the Library reopens. Library electronic resources and other online services are available 24x7, on- and off-campus. You are encouraged to use the electronic resources for your study, including Primo Discovery Service, E-Resources Portal, Electronic Newspapers and Research Tools.   • Suspension for IELTS (for March 7 & 8 and March 14 & 15 sessions) [Post: 17/02/2020]

    To support efforts to prevent the spread of the coronavirus, all IELTS tests and exams to be held at the MPI-Bell Centre of English of Macao Polytechnic Institute from now until 31 March 2020 inclusive are suspended, with immediate effect.

    All test takers affected by the suspension can apply for a full refund. The MPI-Bell Centre of English will contact you for the refund procedure in April, 2020. For enquiries, please email to mpibell@ipm.edu.mo.

  • Arrangements to Resume Office and Basic Services from 17 February, 2020 [Post: 16/02/2020]

    In accordance with the guidelines of the Public Administration and Civil Service Bureau (SAFP), the public sector will resume office starting on 17 February 2020 and maintain the basic services and operations.   • MPI assists Macao students studying in Taiwan to study in Macao [Post: 12/02/2020]

    Due to the suspension of entry of Hong Kong and Macao people in Taiwan, some Macao students studying in Taiwan have not returned to higher education institutions before the start of the semester. In response to the Macao SAR Government's call, the Macao Polytechnic Institute provides transfer measures for needy Macao students studying in Taiwan. For details, please refer to here.

  • Exemption from Work during 8 to 16 February, 2020 in MPI [Post: 07/02/2020]

    According to the guidelines issued by the Public Administration and Civil Service Bureau (SAFP), as well as in response to the development of COVID-19 epidemic and the need of epidemic prevention, public servants shall be exempted from work from 8 to 16 February, 2020 through the Dispatch of the Chief Executive No. 12/CE/2020. During this period, MPI will only provide emergency services. Based on the guidelines issued by the SAFP to all government departments earlier, the exemption from work aims to reduce the risk of disease transmission. Unless it is urgent and necessary, staff members who are exempted from work shall stay at home and avoid going out in order to fulfill staff obligations.

  • Civil Servants Should Stay at Home during the Period of Exemption from Work [Post: 06/02/2020]

    Regarding the Dispatch of the Chief Executive on the exemption from work for civil servants, the Public Administration and Civil Service Bureau (SAFP) has issued guidelines to government departments earlier. During the period of exemption from work, the government departments shall provide indispensable services for maintaining public order, safety, hygiene and basic social operations. Unless it is urgent and necessary, staff members who are exempted from work shall stay at home and avoid going out in order to fulfill staff obligations. Leadership of the government departments can request staff to return to the office at any time according to the needs of the departments. If staff members fail to return to the office within the reasonable time set by the department head and without justifiable reasons, it can be considered as unjustifiable absence.

    The SAFP emphasizes that civil servants must abide by the guidelines. Civil servants are responsible for cooperating with the government's epidemic prevention work.

  • "Guidelines on Maintaining Emergency Services during 5 to 7 February in MPI" [Post: 04/02/2020]

    Regarding the "Guidelines on the Service Maintenance during the Exemption of Work from 3 to 7 February in MPI", issued by the Personnel Office on 1 February to all staff, and in response to the development of COVID-19 epidemic, new guidelines for staff are now released as follow:

    2. The leadership of MPI determines the emergency service items and the list of working staff required during the above-mentioned period. Based on the special needs of work, adjustments can be made to the list of working staff at any time.
    3. The exemption from work aims to reduce the risk of disease transmission. Unless it is urgent and necessary, staff members who are exempted from work shall stay at home and avoid going out in order to fulfill staff obligations.
  • The Public Administration and Civil Service Bureau (SAFP): "Guidelines on Maintaining Emergency Services during 5 to 7 February in Government Departments” [Post: 04/02/2020]

    Regarding the "Guidelines on the Service Maintenance during the Exemption of Work from 3 to 7 February in Government Departments" issued by the SAFP on 31 January to all government departments, and in response to the development of COVID-19 epidemic, the SAFP releases the following new guidelines to all government departments and public entities:

  • Suspension for IELTS (for Feb 8 and Feb 22 Sessions) [Post: 03/02/2020]

    To support efforts to prevent the spread of the coronavirus, all IELTS tests and exams to be held at the MPI-Bell Centre of English of Macao Polytechnic Institute from now until 29 February 2020 inclusive are suspended, with immediate effect.

    All test takers affected by the suspension can apply for a full refund. The MPI-Bell Centre of English will contact you for the refund procedure in March, 2020.

  • Paper Test Reports for All Candidates (of the IELTS Session Dated 18 January, 2020) [Post: 03/02/2020]

    In view of the new development in the outbreak of COVID-19 epidemic, and in order to reduce the risk of the spread of the disease, please do not come to the MPI-Bell Centre of English, Macao Polytechnic Institute to pick up your paper test reports for now. The MPI-Bell Centre of English will inform you of the pick-up time after the public institutions in Macao resume the normal office hours.  In addition, according to the relevant regulations, the MPI-Bell Centre of English does not provide the mailing service of the paper test reports.

  • Online Learning at MPI Before Class Resumption [Post: 02/02/2020]

    Online learning means will be used at MPI to enable students' continued engagement in learning at home before class resumption. Learning materials and other resources will be uploaded to MPI's online learning platform CANVAS on a weekly basis starting from next week. Please stay tuned for the latest updates via your Institute email and your Canvas account.

  • Higher Education Bureau Urges Faculty and Students to Follow Anti-epidemic Measures and Self-isolate at Home [Post: 02/02/2020]

    Due to the continuous outbreak of COVID-19 epidemic, in order to ensure the safety and health of all students, faculty and staffs, and prevent the virus from further spreading, the SAR government has announced that the date of class resumption of all higher education institutions of Macao and non-local higher education programmes operating in Macao will be further postponed. Thus, the Higher Education Bureau strongly urges students, faculty and staffs to strictly follow instructions of the SAR government on anti-epidemic measures. Students must stay at home during the period of class suspension, and stay away from crowded places when possible. Taking proper preventive measures is highly recommended.

    All students, faculty and staffs who returned to Macao during the Chinese New Year holiday must self-isolate at home for 14 days and stay alert to the physical condition. Those feeling unwell should seek medical advice at once and honestly report recent travel record. Furthermore, the Mainland China students of Macao's higher education institutions, who have returned to the Mainland, must stay at home for self-quarantine until the class resumes, and not return to Macao for the time being.

  • Exemption from Work on 03-07 February 2020 [Post: 01/02/2020]

    In accordance with the approval from the Chief Executive, public services staff are exempted from work on 03-07 February 2020 in order to reduce crowd gathering and infective risks. Staff members who are exempted from work shall stay at home and avoid going out. Unless it is urgent and necessary, all staff members shall avoid leaving Macau.   • Further Suspension of Classes at MPI [Post: 30/01/2020]

    In view of the current epidemic development, as announced by the Macao SAR Government, all classes are further suspended at all higher education institutions in Macao until further notice (see here).   • Arrangements for Hostel Students [Post: 30/01/2020]

    All classes are further suspended at MPI. Students currently outside of Macao are strictly prohibited to return to campus/hostel before the commencement of classes. Students currently on campus hostels are advised to stay at their hostels. Please maintain good personal hygiene and take precautionary measures to reduce exposure to the virus.

  • Library Closure Notice [Post: 30/01/2020]

    In response to the current outbreak of COVID-19 epidemic, the Library will be closed with effect from today until further notice. The due date of checked-out items will be extended and the Library activities will also be suspended until after the Library reopens.

  • Suspension of Clinical Placements (Nursing, Biomedical Technology & Speech-Language Therapy) [Post: 29/01/2020]
