| |
To order to pursue
research, the Institute needs a team of research administrators.
For this purpose, the Division for Research & Publications
(DRP) opened its office in September 2001. Until now, several
dozen research programmes proposed by MPI staff have gone
through their assessment and funding procedures. DRP is under the Academic
Affairs Department. In terms of research affairs. It reports
to the Research Committee and Technical & Science Committee.
DRP functions as an administrative agent of the Institute
in coordinating, serving and supervising research affairs.
Its functions are to: |
| 1.
|
Draft
annual and long-term plans for research development and
implement them in compliance with the policies, regulations
and instructions of the state and SAR governments. |
| 2. |
Assess the research plans of academic
units and supervise to implement them; summarise, introduce
and popularise positive experiences among academic units;
inspect and find problems in research work and propose suggestions
for improvements to the management of the Institute.

| 3. |
Document and put into
effect MPI's rules, regulations and requirements concerning
research work. |
| 4.
|
Administer
research projects including receiving and assessing project
proposals, approving and supervising the progress of research
projects. |
| 5.
|
Administer
research achievements including inspecting, evaluating,
registering research outcomes, applying for award, sorting
and filing materials as well as disseminating the research
results. |
| 6.
|
Maintain and manage intellectual
property rights of MPI. |
| 7. |
Supervise the operations of the specialised
research activities of MPI.
|
| 8. |
Organise and coordinate academic cooperation
and exchange activities between MPI and external academic
units.
|
| 9.
|
Supervise
research projects employed by external enterprises or institutions,
and projects involved in technology development, technology
transfer, technology service and technology consultation,
etc. |
| 10. |
Formulate
rules for assessing researchers' achievements; proposing
to management issues in relation to promotion of staff based
on their research records. |
