Division for Pedagogical Affairs

Division for Pedagogical Affairs is one of the divisions under the Academic Affairs Department. It provides a wide range of support to MPI’s schools in relation to teaching quality assurance, administrative support to teaching, and maintenance of joint academic programmes.

DAP pursues its objectives through three core activities:
   
1.
Teaching quality management
-
Development of teaching quality assurance policies and procedures, including Academic Rules and Regulations, through support for the Management Board, Teaching Quality Committee and School Academic Committees;

Online student survey allowing students and alumni to record their satisfaction/dissatisfaction of their learning experience. DAP is responsible the analysis of data collected by student survey in every semester;
-
Improving teaching quality through class observations. It allows teachers to receive feedback on their teaching skills in order to improve teaching quality;

Arranging professional accreditation of programmes by external bodies;

Following up on professional development and training of academic staff.

2.
Administrative support to teaching

Administering final and supplementary examinations;

Providing classroom allocation;

Booking of external sport venues for teaching purposes;

Dissemination of programme information such as reading list, course schedule, examination timetable, cancellation/make-up of classes;

Serving as a centralised contact point for academic staff to obtain teaching support.

3.
Maintenance of joint academic programmes

Promoting joint academic programmes to MPI Students and alumni as well as admininistering students recruitment.

Arranging class venues and laboratory sessions for joint academic programmes;
-
Providing administrative support to joint academic programmes;

Arranging appropriate venues and ensuring security for examinations;

Arranging local student enrolment and registration.
