Macao Polytechnic Institute's "Blessing Our Motherland" Celebration Show

The celebration show officially started

To celebrate the 70th anniversary of the establishment of the People’s Republic of China and the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the Macao Special Administrative Region, and to reinforce the students’ and alumni’s concern for the motherland, a celebration show for the blessings of the motherland was held at MPI on 28th November 2019, organised by Macao Polytechnic Institute and assisted by MPI Student Union and the Alumni Association. Approximately 300 people attended the celebration show, including youths from all walks of life, MPI teachers, students and alumni, who all celebrated the special occasion of the two anniversaries of establishment together, with performances by more than 70 students and alumni.

Prof. Im Sio Kei, President of the Macao Polytechnic Institute, said MPI is always keen on developing new talents for the country and Macao, so that they can present their best in all aspects of the society and contribute to the prosperity of the nation and Macao, and spread the optimism, persistence, and unity characteristic of the MPI spirit, and enthusiastically contribute to the overall development of the society. Moreover, upon the celebration of the two anniversaries of establishment, MPI held the “Macao Polytechnic Institute Students’ and Alumni’s Learning of the National Situation” exhibition, to present the fruits of MPI in the aspect of learning the national situation in all these years.

World champion of martial arts poured the performance

The celebration show implemented the tradition of “loving the motherland, loving Macao”, to present the sincerest blessings to the motherland and Macao for the brightest future, including the playing of the national anthem; lion dancing; demonstration of kungfu by Jia Rui, the first Macao athlete in martial arts winning the gold medal in the Asian Games, along with twenty other students; martial arts performance by Huang Junhua and Li Yan, two world champions, along with other winners in world-class contests; Chinese dancing; advanced rope-skipping; “I and My Motherland” sung by Macao students; “Descendants of the Dragon” sung by Portuguese-speaking students; and finally the choir of all performers led by Nick Ngai and Lam Si Ham, two local Macao singers singing “Better Tomorrow”.

Based on the learning of the national situation, the “Macao Polytechnic Institute Students’ and Alumni’s Learning of the National Situation” exhibition held at the Exhibition Gallery presented the cultural exchange activities to the motherland organised by Macao Polytechnic Institute, including the visit to the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge, one of the national centenary infrastructure projects, participation in national exhibitions, study tours and exchange trips to the mainland, the “Ten Thousand Talent Programme” project and voluntary teaching activities to cities and provinces. All these activities arouse MPI students’ and alumni’s gratitude to the motherland, encourage their contribution to the society and mutually promote national development.

Almost 70 students and alumni performed hand-in-hand to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the establishment of the PRC and the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the Macao S.A.R.
