Education and Entertainment Merged at MPI’s Halloween English Party

With the aims of encouraging MPI students to learn English in their leisure time, foster a stronger interest in the language, and improve their proficiency in the language in a well-rounded manner, the MPI Student Affairs Office and the MPI-Bell Centre of English co-organised the “Social English Lesson and Halloween Party”.

Before the party, there was an approximately one-hour interactive lesson, in which Fulbright English Teaching Assistants, who are native English speakers from the United States of America, taught MPI students social English skills. Through such activities as discussions, role-playing and party games, the students quickly acquired those skills and became used to conversing in English, thereby establishing their confidence in having English conversations and further expanding their social network.

As a continuation of the lesson, the Halloween Party immediately took place afterwards. Offering the students more opportunities to practise what they had learnt in a relaxed and joyful setting, the English Teaching Assistants actively engaged students of different years and majors in English conversations. Moreover, many students dressed for the occasion by wearing their favourite costumes, which, coupled with the Halloween decorations, infused the entire venue with a festive atmosphere. All the participants could be seen having great fun and enjoying themselves immensely.
