Welcome MPI Newcomers

澳門理工學院在新學年開始之際，於9月3日舉行了迎新活動，活動旨在歡迎新生加入理工大家庭，增加學生對學院的認識及歸屬感，給新鮮人的大學生活注入生氣。李向玉院長勉勵新生在四年大學生活中，建立良好品德，學會做人，勇於挑戰學術， 積極創新。

迎新會活動當天除了介紹學院不同的校園生活點滴和學生活動外，還安排了各校的學生進行舞蹈、魔術、唱歌等表演。迎新會上，李向玉院長代表學院歡迎新生入讀理工大家庭，他勉勵全體新生，在四年的校園生活中，除了要學習知識外，還要樹立良好品格，學會做人，因做人是做事的開始，做事是做人的結果。他寄望新生尊師重道的同時，能勇於挑戰學術，突破困難，積極創新，將來為爲社會的棟樑之材。

迎新會上，數百名理工“新鮮人”與學院領導穿上專為迎新會設計的迎新T恤，通過一連串表演、學生會及多支學院隊伍介紹，大家都懷著愉快的心情渡過了美好的一天。同日，理工還舉辦了一項別開生面的〝校園方位大作戰〞的活動，讓同學們通過遊戲了解校園及各項服務程序，新同學需要到訪校園各指定地點並完成一連串指定任務，新鮮人通過互相合作完成活動後，都表示對整個學院都有更深層次的認識。

主辦單位澳門理工學院學生事務處表示，透過一連串的迎新及校園生活活動，增強新生對理工學院的認識，為大學生的全人發展奠基。數百名新生出席了迎新會，成果豐富。

At the beginning of the new academic year, an Orientation Day was held on 3rd September to welcome and help newcomers to develop a sense of belonging to their respective Schools. MPI President Prof. Lei Heong Iok encouraged all newcomers throughout their four-year campus life to establish good morals, be courageous, active and innovative.

During the day’s events, representatives of the students’ union and various interest clubs introduced and demonstrated their activities. Seniors gave numerous performances, including magic, dancing and singing shows. Also during the gathering President Prof. Lei represented the Institute in welcoming all of the newcomers to join the MPI family. He reminded all newcomers that in addition to gaining knowledge the building up of good moral standards throughout their four-year campus life was essential. Being a good person is the fundamental quality for success. He hoped students would show respect for their teachers, the courage to overcome all challenges and difficulties, and wished that they would become strong pillars of the society.

All the participants, including hundreds of freshmen, their senior colleagues and MPI leaders, wore “freshers” T-shirts, enjoying their first experience together. Also during the day, a “Campus Hunt” activity was held in order to lead students to know more about the campus facilities and services. The participants were formed into smaller groups which had to complete a series of specified tasks at designated locations through mutual cooperation.

The MPI Student Affairs Office which organized the event indicated that through a series of welcoming and campus life activities, participants had developed a better understanding of MPI, encouraging the development of the student’s whole person development in the future. Hundreds of students attended the gathering which was very successful in achieving its aims.
