Article 1 Objective
To encourage Macao's excellent students to enroll in the Higher degree programmes offered by Macao Polytechnic Institute (MPI), MPI has established the “Scholarship for Excellent New Students of Higher Diploma and Bachelor Degree Programmes” (hereinafter “scholarship”).
|
Article 2 Eligibility
Macao residents who have enrolled on Higher Diploma or Bachelor Degree Programmes offered by MPI are eligible and shall be selected according to the results of their admission exam (based on the requirements of the different programmes, including marks of written exams, interviews or specific exams). The list of recommended students will be sent to the Institute's Management Board for approval by the Student Management Office. Students who have been awarded scholarships or have received grants from other organizations are still eligible for the scholarship, provided that there is no conflict with existing related regulations.
|
Article 3 Quota
The quota of scholarships will depend upon the number of classes required for the different programmes (one quota for each class). |
Article 4 Value
of the Scholarship
50% of the annual tuition fee of the programme the recipient has been accepted for will be discounted, provided that the recipient has submitted the first semester's tuition fee of the immediate academic year.
|
Article 5 Duration
of the Scholarship
The Institute will issue the scholarships annually, once the recipients begin their studies at the Institute. The duration of the scholarship will cover the time span of the recipient's programme (according to the time span stipulated by the study plan published in the government's gazette). However, if the recipient encounters circumstances as indicated in Article 6 below during his/her studies, the scholarship will be terminated.
|
Article 6 Termination
of Scholarship
Recipients must study their programme according to the study plan stipulated in the government's gazette, and must be full-time students. Moreover, at the end of each academic year, the recipient's cumulative GPA must rank among the top 25% of his/her programme (with the same teaching language and mode of study). If recipients suspend or defer their studies or change to part-time mode half-way through their studies, or fail in any subjects by the end of the academic year, their scholarships will be terminated automatically. Once the scholarship has been terminated, relevant students will not be entitled to it again. If the scholarship amount has already been deducted from the tuition fee at the time the scholarship is terminated, the recipient will be required to repay the deducted amount.

Article 7 Others
Any other issues arising which are not specified in these regulations shall be subject to determination by the Institute's Management Board. |
This regulation is approved by the MPI Management Board on 10th May 2010 and comes into effect on 17th May 2010, at which time corresponding regulations No 16R/CG/DGE/2009 formerly approved by the MPI Management Board on 9th July 2009 shall be rescinded. |
