CCISP para o IPM (em Inglês)

  1. Registration procedures

    Interested students from Polytechnic Institutes (IP) in Portugal may contact their IP / programme coordinator for application to this exchange student programme.

    • MPI provides the list of available courses/subjects to CCISP;
    • CCISP forward the list of available subjects to IPs;
    • Qualified students select the courses in which they are interested, then CCISP informs MPI about their preliminary decision;
    • MPI check the feasibility of enrolling the courses according to students’ preferences, and give feedback to CCISP.
    • If no problem, IPs sends the learning agreements (signed by IPs and students) to MPI. If time conflict occurs, action 2 and 3 is repeated. Students should revise the course combination and discuss it with their IP.
    • MPI provides the qualified exchange students with a link for on-line registration. Candidates must complete the on-line registration form.
    • Once the on-line registration has been completed the student will be given a registration number. Students must send the registration number to MPI via e-mail (sao@ipm.edu.mo) .
    • The completed and accepted on-line application form and related information must be printed and, upon arrival at MPI, should be presented to the Registry with all the required documents (including the original medical exam report and vaccination booklet) in order to complete the students' registration at MPI.
    • In the case of those who are unable to present the required documents, the Registry reserves the right to prohibit candidates to be officially registered, proceed to enrolment or attend classes and final examination; non-registered students will not be provided with insurance coverage.
    • Once all the registration procedures have been completed, the qualified exchange student must present the original learning agreement (signed by IP representative and the qualified exchange student) to the Registry.
    • If during the registration process at MPI the qualified exchange student wishes to change courses/subjects from those previously agreed and signed for with the IP, the student must obtain approval from the IP. Any revised learning agreement, endorsed by the IP representative, must be resent to MPI Registry.
  2. Starting dates / Academic Calendar

  3. Expected arrival date

    tudents should arrive in Macao at least 4 working days before the first day of classes, as indicated on the MPI academic calendar, so as to be able to complete all the formalities such as registration, opening of bank account etc., and to become familiar with the surrounding environment before class starts.

  4. VISA applications for Macao and China

    Students with Portuguese passport do not need a VISA to enter to Macao. However, the student’s home institution should ensure that those with passports of other nationalities already have a VISA to enter Macao. 

    DAE staff will guide the exchange students on how to apply for a student VISA once they have arrived. DAE staff will give advice to exchange students wishing to apply for a tourist VISA to enter mainland China.

  5. Class Attendance

    A minimum attendance of 70% is required for all subjects in the degree programmes (attendance requirements for placement / practicum subjects in the School of Health Science programme are 90%). Any student not complying with attendance requirements is ineligible to take the final examination and the subject will be treated as failed.

  6. Supplementary Examinations

    All exchange students that fail in the exams must attend the supplementary examinations at MPI, during the period mentioned in the academic calendar.   8. Prerequisites from MPI (ESAP, ESCE and ESS)

    In order for candidates to be accepted for the programmes offered, they must comply with the following prerequisites:

    School of Public Administration (ESAP)
    • Applicant must have a GPA of not less than 2.5.
    • Applicant must have a good knowledge of English.
    • Applicant transcript and previous course plan must be submitted to ESAP for evaluation.
    School of Business (ESCE)
    • Applicant must have a GPA of not less than 2.5.
    • Applicant must have a good knowledge of English.
    • Applicant transcript and previous course plan must be submitted to ESCE for evaluation.
    School of Health Sciences (ESS)
    • Nursing internship:
      • Applicant must be from/ apply to the 4th year of Nursing bachelor degree programme.
      • 36 hours X 15 weeks. Total 15 credits.
      • Internship will be in Hospitals, health centers, homes for the elderly etc.
      • Applicant must have a GPA of not less than 2.5.
      • Applicant must have a good knowledge of English.
      • Applicant transcript and previous course plan must be submitted to ESS for evaluation.
    • Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Technology (Pharmacy Technology)
      • Applicant must comply with the pre-requisites for the subjects for Year 4 Subjects, which are Internship I and Internship II indicated for in this link.
      • 36 hours X 15 weeks. Total 15 credits.
      • Internship will be conducted in appropriate sites in Macao, such as community pharmacy.
      • Applicant must have a GPA of not less than 2.5.
      • Applicant must have a good knowledge of English.
      • Applicant transcript and previous course plan must be submitted to ESS for evaluation.
    • Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Technology (Medical Laboratory Technology)
      • Applicant must comply with the pre-requisites for the subjects for Year 4 Subjects, which are Internship I and Internship II indicated for in this link.
      • 36 hours X 15 weeks. Total 15 credits.
      • Internship will be conducted in appropriate sites in Macao, such as clinical laboratory in hospital.
      • Applicant must have a GPA of not less than 2.5.
      • Applicant must have a good knowledge of English.
      • Applicant transcript and previous course plan must be submitted to ESS for evaluation.

    • Where and who should I contact at MPI?

    • What will my expenses be like in Macao?
      Tuition fees:

      Exchange students should pay their tuition fees to their home institution.

      Registration fees: Exchange students are exempt from registration fees.
      Accommodation:

      Exchange students will be accommodated in the MPI hostel at no rent. However, all students must pay the hostel caution fee of MOP1,030.00. This is refunded upon check-out when all accounts have been settled.

      Living subsidy

      MPI will award each student a monthly subsidy of MOP3,000.00 which should be enough to cover daily meals and other basic expenses.

      Electricity fees:

      MPI will award each student a monthly subsidy of MOP200.00 towards electricity costs.

      Transportation expenses:

      MPI will provide transportation for students on their first arrival to Macao, from the Macao Ferry Terminal or Macao International Airport to the MPI hostel.

      Public buses usually run from 6am to 12 midnight. Bus passes are available to anyone that wishes to purchase one. For details of the Macaupass and bus concession, please refer to http://www.macaupass.com
      Meals expenses:

      Students are responsible for their own daily meal expenses. Students may choose to eat in one of the two canteens located on the MPI campus or in outside restaurants. As an approximate guide, a set lunch in an MPI canteen starts from around MOP30.00 (excluding drink), and in Portuguese-style restaurants a dish costs around MOP50.00.

      Health care and Insurance:

      MPI has insurance covering all registered students in the unfortunate event of any bodily injuries being sustained -Students Insurance. Medicines can be bought in pharmacies. Some medicines can be sold without a prescription, but for stronger medication a doctor's prescription is required. Students taking regular medication are advised to bring an adequate supply with them to last for the duration of their stay.

    • What documents do I need to bring with me?
      • A valid passport (with at least 1 year of validity);
      • 6 passport type photographs;
      • Health Insurance Card and related policies;
      • Personal hospitalization insurance and related policies;
      • Your updated vaccination booklet (must indicate that you been immunized against tetanus-VAT);
      • The MPI Medical Examination Proof Formhttps://csc.ipm.edu.mo/nemas/WebAdmin/share/396211.pdf completed by a doctor (must carry his/her signature and hospital or health centre official chop or seal);
      • Account information of your bank in Portugal, such as a copy of the bank account booklet or card, bank name, address, account number, IBAN with the NIB codes, i.e. PT50+NIB. (Please note: The only bank in Macao that has connections with banks in Portugal is “Banco Nacional Ultramarino” (BNU) and BNU will transfer values of less than EUR100.00. Exchange student accounts must be in “Caixa Geral de Depositos”. You should open an account with this bank before coming to Macao.
