about specific courses |
|
1.

If I cannot show my certificates
and transcripts during the application period, may I submit
the application form?
|
| |
Yes, but you must submit all the necessary
documents within the prescribed time. Otherwise, your application
will be considered invalid.
|
2.
|
Should I submit the application
form in person?
|
| |
It’s not necessary to submit
the form in person, but the form must be filled in correctly
and submitted with all the necessary documents.
|
3.
|
In order to apply for
higher diploma programmes in nursing and biomedical science,
should the applicant be a Form 6 science graduate?
|
| |
Yes. Because the subjects of these two programmes involve
science studies. |
4.
|
May I defer my studies until the next academic
year once I am accepted? |
| |
You are not allowed to defer your
studies immediately after being accepted. However, you
may suspend your studies after having completed at least
one semester.
|
5.
|
Can the accepted students transfer to another
major? |
| |
In principle you can, but you must
ask to transfer within the scheduled period and the request
must be approved by the Director of School.
|
6.
|
Can the application fee be refunded if the
applicant is rejected? |
| |
No. The application fee cannot be refunded. |
7.
|
Can the tuition fee be refunded? |
| |
For withdrawal due to health or immigration
reasons, students can ask for tuition refund. It must be
processed in accordance to MPI regulations.
|

|
Can the tuition fee be paid in cash? and can
it be paid in installments? |
| |
It can be paid in 2 installments.
The first installment has to be settled before registration
and the second installment has to be settled before the
second semester. Students can pay through the bank by cash,
cheque or bank draft. If you pay directly to the MPI cashier
, you must pay with a cheque or bank draft. Cash will not
be accepted.

What are the suggestions to the students with
financial problem? |

Students can: |

1. approach Macao Education and Youth Department to apply
for a grant or scholarship; |
| |
2. apply for a loan from a bank; or |
| |
3. apply to MPI for a sponsorship |
| |
* If
tuition fee is not settled by due date, acceptance will be
cancelled automatically. |

Are there any scholarships from Macao Polytechnic
Institute? |
| |
The best three graduating students
of each secondary school in Macao are eligible to be considered
for half-fee scholarship, provided that they achieved an
average grade of 75 or above for academic subjects, obtained
a B or above for conduct and submitted written recommendations
from school principals for their academic achievements
and conduct; in addition they must be admitted by and registered
in the Macao Polytechnic. Students awarded half-fee scholarships
are entitled to a 50% reduction of tuition fee for the
programme.

How can students be exempted from admission
examination(s)? |

Students meeting the
following conditions will be eligible for exemption from
admission exams:
1.
|
The student
is one of the best ten graduating students
of each secondary school in Macao, with an
average grade of 75 or above for academic
subjects, a B or above for conduct and written
recommendations by the secondary school principal
for their academic achievements and conduct.
|
2.
|
The student is a graduate
of the Summer Arts Programme of the School
of Arts of the Macao Polytechnic Institute;
or graduates of the short term certificate
courses of the Macao Academy of Visual Arts;
or applicants with proof of award(s) in arts
or design competition(s) in Macao or overseas.
|
3.
|
The student has certificate
of both the Grade 8 instrumental and theoretical
examinations of the ABRSM ( Associated Board
of the Royal School of Music); or applicants
with written recommendations by secondary
school principals on their special talents
and abilities in Music.
|
4.
|
The student was a member
of sports teams representing Macao for the
last three years; or recognized record holders
of sports competitions in Macao; or champions
in major international sports competitions.
|
|
12.
|
What is the “3+1” academic system? |
| |
It means a bachelor degree. “3” represents
the three-year higher diploma programme, “1” stands
for the one-year supplementary programme. When students
finish the 3-year higher diploma programme, he/she can
pursue a supplementary programme in accordance to his/her
own wish and situation. This academic system provides more
flexibility to students.
