Master of Science in Engineering

Offered by University of California, Los Angeles, in collaboration with Macao Polytechnic Institute.

Programme Outline
In order to enhance the professional abilities of engineers and computer scientists in Macao, MPI is proud to announce the programme of Master of Science in Engineering, which is offered by UCLA (University of California, Los Angeles) Henry Samueli School of Engineering and Applied Science and is collaborated with MPI. This program is accredited by ABET (the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology). This program was ranked No.1 among the same kind of programs of the U.S. in 2015. The certificate of this master program will be awarded by UCLA.

This Master of Science programme is designed for highly qualified engineers, for various reasons, not able to attend on-campus master program, who are keenly interested in maintaining up-to-date knowledge in "cutting-edge" engineering and technology.

Mode of Study:Part-time
All courses are developed to address the educational needs of local Macao students who cannot study on UCLA campus. Each professor holds weekly office hours. Weekly live discussion sessions with a graduate teaching assistant provide a significant level of additional support for the online students. These sessions are recorded and archived for students who cannot attend these sessions. Homework and course notes are available through the UCLA course management system. This portal provides students with continuous access to lectures, course materials, and enables the electronic submission of homework. A demo course can be found here. Macao students may have exams proctored at MPI.

Requirements for Award
In order to finish the programme and get the master degree, a minimum of 9 courses are required. On successful completion of the programme and compliance with all other relevant requirements, the candidate will be awarded a Master’s degree from UCLA. 

Entry Requirements 
The minimum requirements for admission to graduate study at UCLA are:
1. A Bachelor degree.
2. A GPA of 3.0 in the last two years of undergraduate work.
3. GRE test Scores. (Can be waived for well qualified applicants)
4. Three letters of Recommendation.
5. Statement of Purpose.
6. TOEFL/ IELTS.

Applicants are evaluated based upon:
- Grades in course work in courses related to the chosen area of study.
- Work experience in relation to the chosen area of study.
- Statement of Purpose.
- Recommendation letters.
- GRE scores.

Fees
The tuition fee for the 9-Course program is US$33,000. Payment of fees is on a course by course basis. $3667.00 per course. UCLA charges a US$110 application fee for applicants.

Registration
Accepted applicants are required to complete their registration at UCLA and MPI.
