Objectives

This doctoral programme aims to provide students with advanced scientific training in the field of Information Science and Technology and the corresponding research methods in order to prepare them to conduct scientific research of the highest quality autonomously in multiple contexts. Recognizing that the multiplicity of interdisciplinary spaces in which the area plays a major role provides many opportunities to carry out research projects of high scientific potential and high impact, the goal of the programme is to explore these aspects and to help students enter the corresponding international research networks.

Note: In order to fulfill the graduation requirement, students must complete 180 credits and pass the defense of thesis.

Application Requirements 

The following applicants may apply to the programme:

  1. MSc degree holders with a background in Information Science and Technology;
  2. BSc degree holders with an excellent scientific/academic curriculum in the area of this Doctoral Programme. 

Fees

The amount of tuition fee to be settled by students will be MOP 90,000 in the first year and MOP 50,000 in each subsequent year. There will be a fee of EUR2,000 for thesis registration in the second year and each subsequent year.

  1. Curriculum vitae, which must include but not limited to the following personal information:
    - Name
    - Nationality
    - Number of Identity card or passport, issue country, place and date of issuing and validity date
    - Email address
    - Gender
    - Birth date
    - Photo
    - Address, country, city, state/region, postal code
    - Other contact (email address, mobile phone)
    - Highest academic qualification, country of course completion, conclusion date, final grade
  2. BSc and MSc diplomas and official transcripts
  3. Identity card or passport
  4. Motivation letter, written by the candidate
  5. The scores of the GRE General Test and TOEFL tests (not mandatory)
  6. Two recommendation letters (Template), which must be endorsed and sent by the recommenders to registry@ipm.edu.mo (Subject: Recommendation Letter), clearly saying the name of the applicant and the programme he/she is applying to.

Note 1:
Admitted applicants holding degrees from a non-Portuguese university must validate their certificates in a Legal Portuguese Representative in their country before enrolling in the Programme.

Note2:
All applicants will be subjected to an interview prior to the final selection, conducted by phone or skype.

Registration

Admitted applicants are required to complete the registration procedures of the University of Coimbra and Macao Polytechnic Institute.
