How time flies! Looking back to these three wonderful weeks in Melbourne, I sincerely felt that it was so impressive and challenging. This overseas study experience will be one of the most valuable memories in my life.

First of all, I really want to express my appreciation to Macao Polytechnic Institute which provided me the overseas study opportunity to enhance my English proficiency, communication skills and learn more about Australian people and culture.

As a matter of fact, before I came to Australia, I was a little worried about myself. I didn’t know if I could handle different situations in an English-speaking country. My major is Chinese/Portuguese translation and interpretation, so I was not confident in my English when I talked to a native speaker. I could still remember clearly how nervous and embarrassed I was, when I talked with some Australian people for the first time. However, I challenged myself in the three weeks. I concentrated on every class, tried my best to complete homework well and talked with trainers and classmates as much as possible. Little by little, I found it was not difficult for me to speak in English. I felt a sense of achievement when I delivered good presentations, speeches, and recorded interesting videos. Most of all, I was very excited that I got a water bottle branded Monash University as a prize because I filmed a promotional video for the college. For me, it was not just a common bottle, but a memorable gift that represented my improvement.

Secondly, I learned a lot from the Global Professionals Program. Such as Australia people and culture, personal branding, company culture, and so on. From my point of view, it will help me to find a proper job in the future. The teaching style of trainers was interactive. It is different from that of the Mainland of China or Macao. When trainers asked some questions, students discussed as a team and expressed their ideas and opinions. At first, I was not used to participating in class. However, as the old saying goes, when in Rome, do as the Romans do. I tried to adjust myself and participated more in class. I found it improved my creativity and analytical skills. I also learned the importance of team work in this way. We shared class with students who were from Japan. They were very friendly and polite. I think it was a good chance that we learned different cultures from each other. I still keep in touch with them.

Last but not least, I really enjoyed the life in Melbourne. My host family mother was a Malaysian who was very independent and friendly. She always cooked all kinds of delicious dishes for me. She told me about various fascinating landscapes and helped me to plan for my tour, she helped me a lot. I really appreciate her for taking care of me for the three weeks. Besides that, I did a lot of interesting things in Melbourne that I had never done before. For example, I went to the Philip Island and saw cute koalas, penguins and kangaroos. Also, I went to the Great Ocean Road to see beautiful ocean. Moreover, I went to Mountain Buller.

I did not expected that this learning trip would be so meaningful to my life. Lovely trainers, classmates, and home-stay mother, multicultural environment, delicious food, and so on. All of these good memories will long live in my heart.
