This summer holiday, I spent some amazing days in Melbourne with my friends from MPI. I cannot forget the interesting courses and the teachers, my friendly Japanese classmates and my lovely homestay!

At first, when I arrived at Melbourne, I felt excited and a little bit nervous. But the tutor Diana always helped us and told us some tips about how to adapt to the new life in Melbourne quickly. I still clearly remember that how nervous I was when I met my homestay Sala. So her warm hug really relaxed a lot. She is so warm and friendly, and we became good friends at the end. She always brought me to see her family and friends, they are all so friendly, and I have become much more talkative than before. She also told me a lot fancy things about Australian culture, I also shared some interesting things about Macau, and even I told her some difficulties I have to fix recently. She is always patient and gave me some ideas to make me feel better. So it is meaningful for me that I can meet her and her lovely family and make friends with them.

My homestay told me that I must walk around the city of Melbourne. Absolutely, the city is amazing! You can easily find one characteristic of Melbourne: Multicultural. The people walking in the street can come from different countries and speak different languages. And the building and architecture styles combine modern and old school together. The lifestyle in Melbourne is really optimistic. People always show their biggest smile, and you can get greetings from everyone. It makes you want to learn more about this city.

After the first week courses, we met many new friends from Japan. They are really polite and cute. We always hung out after the classes and became more and more familiar. We went to Victoria night market to try kangaroo meat and we did the project about immigrant museum together. We spent a lot of unforgettable times, so when we left, they made a warm video to record our memories and we are all moved.

Actually, at first, I wanted to improve my English skill that was why I chose this program. But when I finished this program, I found I got much more than English improvement from this exchange trip. I made lots of foreign friends and had many unforgotten memories with them. And I met my lovely homestay and experienced the traditional Australian lifestyle and food. Many Australian foods are amazing like meat pie, Tim Tam. But there was one food in Australia that made me want to yell: vegemite, it is unbelievable. When I first tried it, I just wanted to throw up and yell. It is disgusting. But some Aussies really enjoy it. So that is why “Some hate it, some love it”.

All in all, although these 20 days in Melbourne went by, they became unforgettable memories in my life. I am so grateful that I can have these opportunities to enjoy these experiences!
