During this summer, I went to Melbourne for an overseas study program. I was excited because I have never studied overseas. I also was a bit nervous and the reason is I needed to face different challenges, such as getting along with the host family, communicating with different kind of people in English, studying in the college etc.

First of all, the program which I studied was called Global Professionals Program. Although Business is not my major, this program taught us some useful skills, such as presentation skills, how to have small talk with different people, corporate culture, etc. Indeed, I think these skills are not only for business because they can be used in daily life. During the class, we had many practice opportunities, we not only sat and listened to trainers, and such kind of practice helped me to learn the skills and knowledge more memorably. The trainers were also not just teachers, they were also like friends because they always talked to us and care about our feelings. In this program, I also made some friends from Japan, they are kind and friendly, they told me about some Japanese culture and taught me some Japanese. It was a wonderful study experience!

Furthermore, my host family was kind and easy going. They always talked to me and gave me some positive comments, even though I didn't understand them sometimes, but they would patiently repeat it made me feel warm. Furthermore, I learnt more about Australia, including their manner, food and life style. I think this home stay experience helped me learn so much.

In addition, I went to some famous locations in my spare time, such as The Queen Victoria Market, Phillip Island, Great Ocean Road and Brighton Beach, also I also tasted some local and specialty food. Some of them are not my flavor, some of them are great, but the most memorable was the kangaroo meat, although I think the taste was not much different from other meat. Australia's environment is very comfortable because of the fresh air and there were many trees that made me feel so natural, which is totally different from Macau.

Last but not least, I learnt so much on this journey, not only English, but many different things, such as communication skills, Australian culture and their manners. Although we can find out of this information in books or the Internet, it will not be as memorable. We must experience it, then we can know more. In Chinese, we have a sentence "You can know more by traveling thousands of miles than by reading thousands of books." After this journey, I experienced this sentence and I think it's right. Finally, I'm so glad I had this opportunity to join this program which helped me see more of this beautiful and diverse world. I will never forget this experience for the rest of my life!
