This summer, I had this great opportunity to participate in the summer program organized by MPI and the Monash College (Professional Pathways Program). It was held in Australia, and it was my first time going there.  Before I went to Australia, I only knew about kangaroos and koalas. You couldn’t say you have been to Australia without visiting them. After this program, I learned more than that and understood more of the Aussie Culture. They love to say “No Worries” and “G’day” as greetings.

The three weeks program covered different content about future careers and skills that we could use in our daily lives. Besides our college, we had other different universities joining this program; they were Shanghai Ocean University and different universities from Japan.  The students were divided into three classes.  Each class was mixed with different students from Shanghai, Japan, and Macau. These enabled us to have different nationalities in class.  It was so much fun having lessons with different students from the other universities.

Furthermore, another attractive thing about the program was that we could have two visits to a renowned local Australian’s company. We discovered about Australian’s working culture and environment and how they work. We even had a small conversation with some of the professionals in Australia. They shared their working experience with us. I still remember, during one session a speaker said: “No one is perfect, everyone makes mistakes.” We just have to learn from it and don't do it again.  Another visit was to one of the biggest dairy innovation companies in Australia; we could go into the factory and understand how the dairy company runs. The most memorable aspect of my visit is that I got to see how the company is different from my region, and I like the working place in foreign country like Australia.

The highlights of the program were One-Day tour, Puffin Billy, Brighton Beach, Melbourne Zoo and Skydiving. During the weekends, my friends and I joined a local one-day tour of the Great Ocean Road. The tour guide drove all along the road, where we get to see the ocean.  I love the spectacular view because I cannot find it anywhere in Macau. Also, the steam train was very special because we tangled our feet outside the train car. We looked at the natural environment and its many tall trees and beautiful houses. The Brighton Beach had many colorful houses on the shore, which were very special. I took many photos on the train and on the beach. The activities that I did in Australia were skydiving and visiting the aquarium and Melbourne Zoo. Skydiving was really exciting and an incredible experience for me. During the aquarium and Melbourne Zoo visit, I got to see different animals and tropical fish, in which I cannot see in Macau.

Three weeks were like a blink of an eye. When we had to leave Melbourne, I missed that it took me 45 minutes by tram go to the city campus and back home every morning and evening. I missed my home stay family; I had such a great time with them. It was a really good experience to broaden my horizon, see different things, and communicate with foreigners.
