                          CALL FOR PAPERS

 I. About the Conference  
The International Conference on Business Knowledge Management (ICBKM) will be held in the Macao SAR. This Conference is jointly organised by the Macao Polytechnic Institute, Peking University, Queen Mary, University of London, the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, the Hong Kong Knowledge Management Society, and Fu Jen Catholic University.

II. Aims and Scope  
The purpose of the ICBKM is to bring together researchers and practitioners from academia and industry in the world of Knowledge Management. It is a forum to exchange information regarding advances in the latest methods and practices of Knowledge Management, identify emerging research topics, and define future directions.

Knowledge Management is now widely accepted as a viable practice for business organisations to enhance performance, maximize talents and encourage innovations. To succeed in the accelerating global business environment, organisations must utilize efficiently their most valuable resource: the intellectual capital of their highly educated, skilled, and experienced employees. Information technologies have enabled organisations to effectively capture, transform, and distribute knowledge. By integrating advanced technologies and valuable business knowledge, organisations will be able to explore new opportunities using a wide range of information types, creating value in the process.

It is envisioned that the Conference will serve as a platform to exchange ideas and share experiences from a variety of fields, originating from different areas such as business and organisation sciences, information technologies management, and software engineering.

IV. Format of Abstract and Pager  
1.
Title: Centered in CAPITAL and BOLD letters
2.
2. Author(s): Author(s)¡¦ name should be in bold starting with the surname followed by given names
3.
Font: (English) Times New Roman
4.
Font size: 12 point
5.
Spacing: Single-line spacing
6.
Margins: Using A4-sized format, set top and bottom margins to 25mm, and left and right margins to 30mm
7.
Language: Abstract and paper should be written in English

V. Submission of Abstract - Instructions and Guidelines  
1.
Abstracts should not exceed 250 words and should be presented within one A4-sized page or picture (graphic) with a respective description.
2.
Abstracts should include a separate sheet detailing the title of the paper and topic category (as listed on the first page), name of author(s), affiliation, mailing address, phone number and e-mail address.
3.
Abstracts can only be submitted electronically (via e-mail) in Microsoft Word format to the following e-mail address: km@ipm.edu.mo
4.
4. The file name for the submitted abstract should consist of the author¡¦s surname and given names, separated by an underscore. Should there be more than one author, use the first/primary author¡¦s name.

For Example:
Author¡¦s surname: Chan
Author¡¦s given name: David
The file name should be: chan_david.doc
5.
The subject of the e-mail message should be the same as the name of the submitted file.
6.
6. The deadline for abstract submission is 30th June 2006.

VI. Submission of Abstract - Important Notice  
1.
The Paper Submission Review Committee reserves the right to disallow abstracts that are not related to the conference theme, or abstracts that do not follow the above guidelines.
2.
Abstracts will be peer reviewed by the Paper Submission Review Committee. The Organising Committee will notify each author individually by e-mail regarding the acceptance of abstracts by 15th July 2006.

VII. Submission of Papers  
PDF or Microsoft Word files are required from authors; i) the full-length manuscript, ii) the 250 word abstract, iii) one page CV, iv) a cover page, v) a table of contents, and vi) bibliography. Authors should submit FULL-LENGTH, original, unpublished papers (minimum 5 / maximum 12 pages, with the table of contents and bibliography not included) along with an abstract of about 250 words. The cover page must include:
1.
the title of the paper.
2.
the name, affiliation, complete mailing address, and phone, fax, and email address of the first author.
3.
the names, affiliations, city, state, country of additional authors.
4.
the person to whom correspondence should be sent if other than the first author.
5.
the identification as cited in the paper if applicable.
6.
the topic category (as listed on the first page).
Electronic submission via e-mail is the only accepted submission mode. Please email your paper in Adobe PDF and Microsoft Word formats to: km@ipm.edu.mo

Please check the content and printed appearance of your paper before submission. Please note that the full-length paper submission deadline is 31st August 2006.

VIII. Submission Review  
All submissions, abstracts and full papers will be subject to blind reviews. Relevancy of theme and originality of work are key considerations for paper selection. Selected papers may be published in the Conference Proceedings.

IX. Publication Rights  
By submitting an abstract or full paper, each author agrees to give the Macao Polytechnic Institute the right to publish his / her paper in the proceedings of the International Conference on Business Knowledge Management, and further publish the paper on the Macao Polytechnic Institute website without compensation.

XI. Registration Fee & Hotel Accommodation  
No registration fee is required for the Conference. The Macao Polytechnic Institute will be responsible for the food and accommodation for the author of the paper (or a nominated author if there is more than one author for the paper) which has been accepted by the Paper Submission Review Committee, during his / her stay for the Conference in Macao.

*All participants will be responsible for paying their own transportations, both international and/or domestic, as well as their own travel insurance.
