Mr. Chen Sixi, Deputy Director of the Liaison Office of the Central Government in Macao, visited the Institute and expressed his admiration for MPI’s rapid development, innovative ideas, sound prospects and unique features. He encouraged MPI to continue to cultivate talented professionals for Macao and China.

Mr. Chen and other colleagues from the Liaison Office visited the Institute on August 29 and received a warm welcome by the Board of Management and heads of academic and administrative units. President Lei Heong Iok first thanked the Liaison Office for its concern and support for the Institute’s development and then moved on to introduce MPI’s educational philosophy - -"rooted in Macao while reaching out to the world, MPI endeavours to grow into a continuously improving higher education institution of excellence”. Being "small in size and compact in structure", MPI aims to achieve “international standards in teaching and learning, to build an e-campus, and to ensure administrative compliance with the law and the standardization of its research management ". With support from the Macao government and the community, MPI has already enjoyed steady development over the last decade with the quality of its teaching continuously improving and the number of applications for student admission rising to over 8,000, setting a new record. President Lei then went on to present Mr Chen with some books and journals on Portuguese teaching, English teaching, gaming laws and “one country, two systems” studies.
 

It was Mr Chen’s first visit to MPI and he shared his impressions on several things. First, MPI’s rapid development, in terms of both scale and impact, and especially the influence of its featured disciplines on the country and world; second, MPI’s innovations and advanced development on the research front; and third, the Institute’s buoyant prospects. He particularly mentioned and praised the One Country Two Systems Research Centre and its contribution to the practice and study of the Macao Basic Law. Lastly, he encouraged MPI to maintain close links with different entities both locally and overseas, and to continue to produce high-quality talented professionals.
 

The guests visited the School of Health Sciences, the School of Arts, MPI - Bell Centre of English, the library and other facilities.
