President Lei Heong Iok first thanked the Liaison Office for its concern and support for the Institute’s development and then moved on to introduce MPI’s educational philosophy - -"rooted in Macao while reaching out to the world, MPI endeavours to grow into a continuously improving higher education institution of excellence”. Being "small in size and compact in structure", MPI aims to achieve “international standards in teaching and learning, to build an e-campus, and to ensure administrative compliance with the law and the standardization of its research management ". With support from the Macao government and the community, MPI has already enjoyed steady development over the last decade with the quality of its teaching continuously improving and the number of applications for student admission rising to over 8,000, setting a new record. President Lei then went on to present Mr Chen with some books and journals on Portuguese teaching, English teaching, gaming laws and “one country, two systems” studies.
