In order to strengthen cooperation between Macao and Fujian Province, the Vice Chairman of Fujian Provincial Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, Mr. Chen Yixing, visited Macao Polytechnic Institute (MPI) with a delegation on October 13. Professor Lei Heong Iok, President of MPI, expressed his warmest welcome to the group. During the meeting they discussed higher education and related issues. Professor Lei informed the group of MPI’s motto: “knowledge, expertise, global vision”. Mr. Chen was concerned to learn more about the development of Macao’s higher education and the dozens of Fujian students now studying in MPI, both their study and living conditions. He encouraged the students to study hard in order to contribute to the development of Fujian Province and Macao.

During their visit the guests visited the Biomedical Technology Laboratories of MPI, MPI-Bell Centre of English, student activity centre and other facilities. The guests attending the visit also included Ms. Wang Ling, Vice Minister of the Provincial Party Committee, United Front Work Department in Fujian Province and Secretary of the Provincial Federation of Industry and Commerce, Mr. Gao Qixing, Deputy Director of the Coordination Department of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in Macao SAR, and Mr. Zheng Weirong, Deputy Director of Fujian Provincial Tourism Bureau.
