Themed as “Passions for the Future, Road to Success!”, the series of activities for the MPI “Career Day” included employment promotion and exhibition, career talks, online job vacancies and enterprise tours. 34 enterprises and organisations came from various sectors, such as the government, the banking and finance industry, hospitality and gaming , IT human resources , marketing, real estate and integrated enterprises industry. The career talks consisted of topics such as “becoming a public servant”, and themes related to the hospitality, conference and exhibition, retail and human resources industries.

Professor Yin Lei, Vice President of MPI, said in her speech during the opening ceremony that in the past two decades MPI has nurtured professionals for the IT industry, business, management, art, nursing, translation, physical education and public administration. In early 2014, MPI received a rating of “confidence” by the internationally renowned Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education, UK. This makes MPI the first higher education institution in Macao having a successful international Institutional Review. She also noted that according to surveys most MPI graduates go on to work in a field related to their studies and that their job satisfaction has been shown to be higher than in previous years.

A representative from an enterprise which ran a booth in the Meng Tak Hall said that he strongly agreed with MPI's motto“knowledge, expertise and global vision”which is inscribed there because he considered these to be exactly the characteristics professional personnel must possess for modern enterprises. Representatives from several enterprises or organisations taking part in the event were MPI alumni or students, a demonstration of the fact that they are developing their potential and capabilities in various fields.

Representatives from the Zhuhai Human Resources and Employment Service Centre, an organisation participating for the first time, shared experiences of young people starting up a business in Zhuhai, and encouraged 4th year students from both Macao and the mainland to seize the chances arising from the important development of the Zhuhai Special Economic Zone and the Hengqin New Area to explore commercial opportunities. The representatives also invited MPI students to visit to the Zhuhai Business Incubator Centre for University Students where students could learn more about starting up a business.

Many 4th year students and undergraduates received on-site job interviews or job registrations. A 4th year student commented that the event provided a platform for students to directly communicate with enterprises and organisations, so that they had increased their knowledge about different companies and the job market. He was also confident that he could put knowledge into practice and hunt for a job that suits his future planning. Another student stated that although she had not yet graduated, by knowing job market information in advance and through practice, her interviewing skills could be enhanced, which would benefit her in grasping employment opportunities in the future.
