The 2014 Chinese Universities Evaluation Report compiled by cuaa.net was released on 26 March 2014. The report consists of various rankings and ratings, including amongst others the Chinese university ranking, the star ratings of universities in Greater China, and the Chinese university research ranking. The top five universities in the comprehensive ranking are Peking University, Tsinghua University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Fudan University and Wuhan University.

In the star ratings, there are 109 universities having gained four stars, MPI for the first time being ranked among them, together with a number of Taiwan and Hong Kong universities, such as City University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Tamkang University, Tunghai University, Soochow University, Taiwan University of Science and Technology, and Chung Cheng University. It is noted that these universities have demonstrated outstanding educational standards and a relatively strong capacity in teaching and research.
