The Sino-Western Studies Centre was established in October,
2001. It is an academic unit of Macao Polytechnic Institute
(MPI) under the directorship of Professor Lei Heong Iok,
with Professor Huang Puqu and Doctor Li Changsan as Sub-Directors.
Macao was one of the earliest cities where the west met
the east some four hundred years ago. It was a meeting
point for cultural interactions. The long history of the
city also turned it into a gem that interweaved the Western
with the Chinese cultural heritage. This has provided an
excellent environment for the study of cultural exchange.
Our centre has recognised this unique characteristic, which
has become the embodiment of our mission.
